Clyde Gates isn't picking up the West Coast offense as fast as the Dolphins' other receivers.

New head coach Joe Philbin said that Gates needs to work on his route adjustments. It's not a surprise considering Gates entered the league extremely raw after playing his college ball at Abilene Christian. He's behind Legedu Naanee for the No. 3 receiver gig and could get pushed even further down the depth chart if free agent Chad Ochocinco signs on.

And guys are crying because we are working out Ocho.......
We cant even field a 4 wide set.............

I remember getting ripped for saying Gates is not a lock to make the team this year. All this guy had was speed and decent hands. Thats hardly enough to make a team. He could be on the bubble imo...

who's crying? we got 2 guys who have performed, and moore, wallace, pruitt who haven't (but might) and we have 4 rookies who are unknowns. I'd rather see what those 7 guys can do vs signing an aging vet to mentor our young guys. well the irony is one of our young guys has to be cut so the vet can mentor them.

I think it'd be absolutely idiotic to cut our draft selection from last year. Doesn't mean he won't, it means he shouldn't. you draft someone you should give them at least 2 full years.

Not crying because we are working out ocho.....crying because it seems we NEED ocho, who isn't even a shell of his former self.

If we were lets say the Giants or Detriot then your thinking works. You take a young guy and let him sit on the roster and maybe he becomes your Victor Cruz. The problem is - Miami does not have a starting WR group to allow this type of grooming. So bringin in a vet like ocho actually helps out with your line of thinkging. Its just that RIGHT NOW Miami cant afford that.....

Agree Completely......But Ocho got something in the tank......We just need to HOPE he has his head in the right place....

You're judging these guys based off the sparano development system. We don't know what they can do in a philbin based development system.

Ocho Stinko have never played in the WCO; think he'll learn the pass routes any faster than Gates?

I'm not saying they can or cant do it. I'm just saying unless Miam has 4 WR that they feel can be some what productive, then there is NO time and room to wait for a player to develop.

One of those younk kids could be the next Colston for all we know but if he is not playing like Colston today then he will get cut and replace tomorrow. UNTIL Miami finds 3-4 WR that can produce. This is all I'm saying.

You guys do realize we have 90 players on the roster right now, including 12 WRs. If Ochocinco is signed someone has to go.

I doubt any WR gets cut for ocho, and certainly not a guy we've already got a year plus invested in. if anyone is at risk for getting cut it's going to be jerry. apparently (omar) he's overwieght again. dude is going to eat himself out of the league.

Yippee! The guy that O-line "guru" Tony Sparano HAD to have. Oh, the tight ends that were drafted after this guy...

lol don't get me started. I'm not a sparano hater. even when I supported him, I had serious doubts about his ability to develop talent.
