I like Wes Welker and think he's a great sp teams player and good 3rd or 4th receiver but lets be honest he can't hold Chris Chambers jock strap everyone here thinks he's so great but let's be honest if he can remain on the team or even the league for the next 5 years it would be an accomplshment.

Not only can he hold his jockstrap, he can hold his paycheck too.

Welker = overachiever

Chambers = underachiever

I kind of agree. He is a perfect slot guy. He should not be starting.

Fact is, to be honest, I havent even been thrilled with his kickoff returns lately. He is great on punts, but kick offs are another story.

I completely agree, I love Welker just as much as the next guy. But he is what he is.

A few drops and Chambers is the worst thing since Wanny :shakeno:

welker is all heart and desire, he gets the most out of his talent, we need more players like him...now if chambers had welkers heart and desire, man o man

That's the smae thing I've been saying. I love him and he's a solid ST player and does well in the slot, but the way people talk about him on here you'd think he was the next Jerry Rice. Chambers may be inconsistent and have alot of drops but he is still the best WR we have.

IMO, we need to acquire someone else to field kicks/punts, freeing up Welker to play more receiver. He doesn't need to be starting. He's the perfect slot guy.

He's not Chris Chambers. They're two different athletes with two different skill sets. But I'll tell you this, Wes Welker is CLUTCH. He catches everything he's supposed to catch. And he gets open a lot. On the final drive vs. NE, he was open twice on the last four plays for TDs. The 1st time there was no one within 8 yards of him.

In short, Chambers has the body. Welker has the intangibles.

Welker is gonna be one damn good slot WR for us, but if Chambers or Booker goes down, then Gilmore should be starting, not Welker. It sucks to say this, but Welker doesn't need to be returning the kicks, he only needs to be returning the punts. I think that Welker is ranked 30th in KR's and like 3rd in PR's.

That is the way I feel, I like most other Phin fans feel that Welker is a very good ST, as well as a good slot guy with more heart then alot of the players you will find. To say that he is better then Chambers, is going a little too far, Chambers is the best wr on this team right now.

combine the 2 and you have the perfect reciever...which is why cc is so frustrating. reggie wayne is starting to sound like a decent option to pursue in the offseason

Thank you for pointing out the kick returns. My brother and I have been talking about it alot this year. His ability to return kickoffs has been sub-par, though returning punts he seems to be ok with.

You may be right that Welker isnt a better reciever. The total package, he doesnt have the size or the route running. Personally though I think welker has 2 things better than Chambers is speed and hands. Welker catches almost everything thrown his way. I'm not saying he should be a starter, but I think he is having a much better year than Chris.

I like Welker also, and think he is a decent #3 or 4 WR but he's not nearly what some finheavners think he is. How many kickoffs and punts has he fumbled this year?????? It seems like there's one at least every other game. Nobody makes a big deal about it becuase he has been lucky and has only lost a couple of them. However it's bad. He also doesn't command the kind of coverages our other guys do. I see him as an overacheiving player with a Jim Jenson typr role on the team.

i would like to see them move travis minor back to kick returning and let welker return punts
