A perfect pick at the perfect spot? Then why is Pouncey the highest picked interior lineman in the last 10 years? How is that a perfect spot? Or do you believe he is the best interior lineman in the last 10 years and therefore worthy of being picked in that spot?

Exactly - and nobody think Mike is better than his brother Marquice, and PIT kind of reached a little for Marquice at 18 last year. But at least PIT already had a franchise QB and plenty of weapons at WR and a young stud RB.

This pick sucks - no other way to spin it.

is mike pouncey really the highest drafted interior oline player in the last 10 years??? that should say it all if its true...wow...bad value unless this guy puts on the pads and from day 1 DOMINATES

sparanos so old school its not funny..."we're gonna win by holding you to 10 points scoring 1 td and kicking 3 fgs"...not in todays nfl your not *******
Last Year Upati was taken at 17 and Maurkice at 18. I don't think a two pick difference is anything to write home about. If we know what we know now Maurkice would have been a Top 10 pick.

we protected the qb just fine last year with the oline we had hemidemon so that stuff makes zero sense...what we didn't do was have anyone worth a damn as an on the move blocker in the interior oline or move nose tackles off the ball...our interior line with incog and mcq at guard looked like they were in cement when asked to pull and move to the 2nd level and make contact

if you want to argue that we needed to shore up the oline at least make the right point...we needed effective move players and more athleticism inside...which mike pouncey clearly brings...

he didnt dominate in college so i doubt he comes in from day one and does it. over time he should be a good player esp when we get a new oline coach

A lot of people think FSU's Rodney Hudson is better than Mike Pouncey. And if Pouncey can't play C, then we definitely didn't get the best G in the draft - that was probably Danny Watkins, or even Orlando Franklin, or some sleeper G we could've gotten in the 3rd like Will Rackley.

I can't believe we passed up Ingram and Mallett and Prince for a f'n center who can't snap.

Does anyone remember a HOF by the name of Dwight Stephenson? I bet he loved this pick.

Sine you decided to call someone else out, your lack of knowledge is glaring. I'll say it again, without an o-line to protect a QB, no matter how good he is, he's gonna suck. He's gonna get pounded and he's gonna get hurt. You can hide weaknesses with a good line. You can't without one. A bad line exposes weakness for all others to exploit.

That's putting the cart before the horse. You don't build an offense around an O-line, you build an offense around a QB. We don't have that QB, we reached on an interior O-line player.

Last year everyone was saying all we needed was a legit #1 WR and we would have a better offense. Dolphins traded for Marshall and our offense was worse. Now it's apparently a Center we're lacking and so a few think we nailed it and we're set. Henne will now be pro bowl material, won't matter who we put in the backfield because these guys will make holes big enough for a mack truck. Awesome, the team is now complete with the drafting of Mike Pouncey. Can't wait to see what everyone says we're missing next year when we miss the playoffs yet again.

Oh and one other thing. Green Bay's O-line was just as bad as ours...and they won the super bowl because they have a franchise QB, a ridiculous deep WR corp and a team that puts the ball in the end zone rather than kick FGs.

So you would rather us take another RB with a dodgy knee? A QB who did not even go in the first? or a CB who Jerry Jones chose not tp draft, instead he took an o-linemen for the first time in the first round in 22 seasons. lol. Whatever bro!

you pay top 10 draft money to an interior lineman and one of two things that draft better blow donkey nuts or you better be prepared to exit the building stage left in short order

it doesn't matter how a guy played...there are certain positions that carry the most value and thus are payed that way accordingly...center isn't one of them...and neither is guard...your top 10 values are qbs, ots preferably left tackles, pass rushers, cbs...they are the premier positions and they are paid accordingly...wrs are right there also...not a damn center or guard

its bad value and thats exactly why mike pouncey is the highest drafted interior olineman drafted in 10 years...teams don't consider it a value that high

Why? Maurkice didn't even stay healthy all year. He missed the SB.

Ingram will be a lock for 1,500 yards per year for the next 5 - 7 years. Mallett has the strongest arm in this draft.

Pouncey is a solid player but the fact that this regime is STILL trying to fix the OL after 4 years and tons of money and picks invested already, is just an indictment on this FO anyway.

They obviously should've just signed Jason Brown over Jake Grove in the offseason 2 years ago. But they're focking idiots. So why should we trust them now?

Everyone knew Brown was younger and better and less injury prone than Grove. And the money was comparable. But they chose the injury prone guy (just like Smiley the year before), and here we are still searching for interior OL help.

And even after this Pouncey pick, we still need 2 starting OGs based on what I saw from the likes of Berger/Incognito/Jerry last year. They all sucked. I wouldn't pencil any of them in as starters.

so now he's the 2nd coming of dwight stevenson??? i will hold you to that...its ambitious but not unexpected after reading your posts...maybe he is...he better be if he's pick #15

That is a very weak argument!

after we trade up into round 2 in front of the raiders to take colin kaepernick today giving up our #1 next year in the deal that will be the last straw for me...i am going to move to an island and drink out of coconuts and never watch football again for the rest of my days

or until a carrier pidgeon brings me news that there is a new regime in town...whichever comes first

If we trade up for Kaepernick I will lose it. I may not watch NFL until Sparano and Ireland are gone.

You draft the best player available, end of discussion. Thats what we did.
