The Sunday Dolphins column will return to the pages of The Miami Herald Sunday and the signing of Terrell Owens by the Buffalo Bills highlights the point of the column.
The Dolphins desperately need a starting cornerback.
The column makes the point the Dolphins 2009 schedule will match the Miami secondary against Carolina's Steve Smith, Houston Andre Johnson, New England's Randy Moss and Wes Welker twice, Indy's Reggie Wayne, Tampa's Antonio Bryant, Pittsburgh's Hines Ward, and now Buffalo's Terrelll

could not have said this better myself.

If you know this.............and I know this.............I PROMISE you Parcells and the guys know this. We will get a corner. We have lots of time. Everybody needs to just chill a little. It's gonna be OK. Let the front office guys do their job.

i cant do it captain i dont have the power

Darius Butler or Sean Smith would be great pickups. Butler (UConn) is only around 6 foot tall but he has over a 40 inch vertical and is one of the best all around athletes. Smith can cover pretty much everyone and has good size....around 6'3".

So, this happened last year when we only had one decent corner? Oh yeah, I forgot, we started Goodman who helped blow a few games before he eveloped into a decent player. We had almost as great a need for a CB last year and never got one, and someone says this every year: "don't worry guys, we'll get one".

Well, if we don't get one, we darn sure better get somebody to keep the QB flat on his a$$. I gotta believe we will get it fixed, guys. Perhaps a couple of shots of Absolut until we do. That and some deep breathing. Prayers probably wouldn't hurt either.

An improved pass rush would make a huge difference. I remember cringing last year at the time we gave opposing QBs to make their reads and throw.

we gave opposing QB's enough time to read their offense, read our defense, re-read our defense, read the encyclopedia, re-read their playbook, re-read our defense, then after they went through their progessioins about 6 times, we allowed them to throw... Our pass rush was non existent for the entire last quarter of the season

Because all our linebackers were either on the bench (because we were in the nickle and dime), or backpeddling into coverage to help our porous secondary.

it wasnt only the linebackers, noone, not even the DLine could get pressure.

Thats the 3-4 for ya....

Its really the LBers and Safties job to pressure the QB in that scheme, the NT and DEs are for containment and to eat blocks.

Its really a bonus to get sacks out of a 3-4 DL, not something they are expected to do on a regular basis.

It should be an intresting draft. I wonder how many of you will panic if we dont pick up a corner until the later rounds
