Just a quick bit of research that I decided to look up just to see the kind of opportunities that Joey Porter will have to sack the opposing QBs. Looks like he has a very good chance to up his total this year with the teams that we are facing. I looked up the amount of sacks that the teams we are playing are giving up and it looks like we are in for a good time so to speak. Check these numbers out.
Denver - Have given up 6 sacks through 8 games (1 of those belong to Porter). This is 2nd best in the league behind Tennessee who has given up ONLY 4 thus far.
Miami - We have given up 15 Sacks through 8 games. Average of 1.9/Game (I put this in for comparision to our competition)
Obviously all the teams have played 8 games
Team - # of Sacks Given up so Far = AVG per Game
49ers - 34 = 4.3 (Worst in the League)
NE - 29 (3rd Worst in the League, Cincy is 2nd Worst)
St. Louis - 26 = 3.3
KC - 23 = 2.9
BUF - 23 = 2.9
OAK - 22 = 2.8
Sea - 17 = 2.1
NYJ - 16 = 2.0
Looks like every team is averaging at least 2 sacks given up per game. That is great news.
