Why is everyone so high on Long, when Gholston has out performed Long in College and has done better in the combine. I know Long has earned his status over his name, but his name has put him ahead of a more talented Gholston. I just don't want to see the Pats get Gholston who will be a better pick than us. We should really look at trading down a couple of spots to maybe the sixth pick, where the Jets would more than likely pick Mcfadden.

1. Jets-Mcfadden
2. Rams-Chris Long
3. Falcons-Ryan
4. Raiders-Dorsey
5. Cheifs-Jake Long
6. Phins-Gholston
7. Pats-screwed

We would probably get a 2nd round pick from the Jets as well.

I can't think of a dumber draft strategy than keeping Gholston away from the Jets

Thinking Gholston is better than Long is one thing, but if you think Long is where he's at just because of his name then you are severely uneducated about college football.

Gholston ran slightly faster in the 40, 1 inch higher in vert, but got beat everywhere else.

Sure he benched 37 times but Brady Quinn did it ~24 times. What does this show? They bench a lot. Means nothing. Jared Allen benched 13 times. That exercise is pretty useless IMO. Think Quinn is better at fighting off O-linemen?

You obviously haven't watch much Virginia football last year, Gholston did not out perform Long, and in fact, in the more important drills at the combine, Long beat him there too. (Short Shuttle & Cone)

In my opinion, and it seems most of the football world, Chris Long is the better prospect.

Well, I saw Chris Long blow away Gholston in the agility drills, so I don't know what combine you were watching. Long was much quicker.

Seriously, I had seen several of Chris Long's games and I was still surprised by his athleticism in those drills, I knew going in he was a better football player, but coming out I fully realize just how well this guy could play OLB in a 3-4.

But there are a number of reasons why Bill Parcells would choose Long over Gholston. One of them is that Long's coach at Virginia was Al Groh and I don't have to repeat the history between Parcells and Groh. That's a pretty good contact to have right there.

I would take Chris Long over Vernon Gholston. In my opinion Long is a better athlete and a better football player.

Chris Long really had no competition.

The ACC isn't too bad for competition and he played under a coach who coached a 3-4 in the pros and did it well in the system we are trying to run. His agility drills looked fantastic. Bottom line is the guy has the size, strength and speed/agility to make a big impact right away. Not to mention his hand work on the line is already at the level of a 30 year old veteran in terms of shedding blocks if you watch him on film.

Al groh said that Chris Long was 2nd best football player he ever coached (lawrence Taylor being the best).

I don't think you watched all of Long's drills at the combine. You missed the part where Long drank Gholston's milkshake.
