Ghost of a Coward Makes the Difference

Now that we got Cameron I'm kind of glad we dont have Linehan. Iprefer Cameron's gameplans to Linehan's If Linehan was still on the team he would probably be coach and I wasnt that impressed with what he did in St Louis. I think this all worked out just right in the end

that article really answered alot of my questions about our dodgey offense last year.
awsum read!!!

Interesting article, I disagree with the whole ghost of a coward motif though, Having listened to players talk now that Saban is gone they all feel the man was better suited for college and just didn't know how to run a pro team. They are glad he is gone! Screaming and yelling is not a motivator, in fact it can be the opposite in that it builds resentment when all your screaming and yelling is not yielding results.

There is no greater motivator than winning and as long as the players believe they can win they will be motivated by that alone far more than an egomaniacal fraud of a coach screaming into deaf ears.

Yea Saban made some decent hires and aquired some good FA's but who can't do that when you have a resume to look at? Where it really mattered in his ability to assess and develop fresh talent coming out of college he was a failure. His biggest success was Ronnie Brown but how can you go wrong with the #2 pick? Look what he did with our 1st last year, Jason Allen! The man was just running in place for the 2 years he spent here. He accomplished nothing and this article gives the man far too much credit.

JJ still has more talent on this team than Saban infused and JJ has been gone for like ten friggin years.

Basically what it sounds like is we had a tough year because Linehan left and Mularkey was brought in,,,,,,hence, we had no offense. Cam coming in basically should send Mularkey packing which I think is going to be the biggest plus of all. Good news.

:dolphins:

The article gives way too much credit to Saban. I don't think the talent level was all that bad before he got here.
I also didn't realize the Spragan was an "impact Player". Are you kidding

:sidelol: :sidelol: The fact of the matter is Saban rebuilt this organization from the ground up after inheriting a full wreck of a staff. After Rick Spielman and Dave Wannstedt did their best Pinky & The Brain impersonations for a handful of years, the Dolphins finished the 2004 season largely bereft of talent:sidelol: :sidelol: That was classic:sidelol: :sidelol:

CK...missed a number??

In 2005, the most shotgun-oriented offenses in the league passed out of the gun somewhere around [???] percent of the time.

good stuff CK, once again, I have enjoyed your thoughful opinion, thanks!

Originally written about an hour and a half before the Cameron announcement.

Enjoy.

OK, the article is saying that we basically can win with the Ghost of Saban, and compares that to Dallas winning after JJ left, and Tampa winning after Dungy left. That's a ridiculous comparison. Why? B/C JJ had the Cowboys playing very good football and close to winning big, so did Dungy with the Bucs. The coward that left Miami did not have this team playing good football and wasn't close to winning anything. Big difference.

GO PHINS~!

I thought the author hit the nail on the head. The coaching staff that Saban brought in (Except Mularky, the guy is pure garbage and should be the first to be fired.) was heads and tails above our last staff under Wanny. With the possible exception of losing Bates, who I thought was an awesome D-Cord. We have made leaps and bounds in talent, while we lost some talent (Surtain, Madison and Marion), we gained more than we lost. We are well below the salary cap because of those moves.

Saban wasn't that bad. He was headed in the right direction. Just not as quick as everybody wanted him too. I still maintain that it takes a coach about 4 years to get everything in place. Then you have a window of about 4 years to win the Big One. That gives you 8 good years of football.

Saban cracked under pressure. I'm glad it happened sooner than later. Saban can talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

I put my trust in Mr. H's decision to hire Cameron. I thought he was the best candidate for the job other than Capers.

That's right I said it. Capers.

Capers was handed 2 expansion teams and started with absolutely nothing. No players, no staff and a front office that was just as new as the team. He took a second year Panthers to the NFC title game. Not to shabby, considering what he had to work with. Who knows what kind of decisions he wasn't allowed to make while he was at Texas. And the Panthers are a poorly run team as well IMO. I think Capers might have been just fine here as head coach.

As for Cameron....

We shall see. He has a great offensive mind and a good eye for talent. He is coming into an organization that is set to make a good run at a world title. A little finesse in free agency and some homework in the draft and we will sitting all right for next season. As long as he fires Mularky.

We will return to Greatness...:dolphins:

He alluded to this point in his PC.He said that the team could have easily won several games more with a few breaks and better planning.

Obviously he reviewed the seasons game tapes to come to that conclusion.

The main point here is that Cam Cameron does not inherit a rudderless mess of a team. Even if you believe that, at 45 years old and having spent the last 5 years under one of the best regular season coaches in the business, he is still the same coach that, at 35 years old, led the Indiana Hoosiers to an 18-37 record, all Cam Cameron may need to do to get this team winning big is to infuse the Dolphins' offense with some core competence and a clear vision.
Hopefully he has learned what it takes to create a winning atmosphere that Marty created in SD and take it to the next level that Marty couldn't.
