I guarantee you guys that you just saw what the Phins will look like in the next few years. You saw it with Shula and JJ and you will see it with Parcells. Watch it come together in the draft and free agency!

1. Disruptive, physical 3-4 defense
2. Power running game
3. Good special teams
4. Controlled passing game

On a side note...I would not say that the Giants have any exceptional skill players on offense, except maybe Plax. Eli is perfect for their system but not a superstar. Their running game is average. They play field position, dominating defense and power football, and they showed everyone how to beat the Patsies--pound them into the ground!

Their formula is almost identical to what we had in 02. Too bad we couldn't get clutch wins. They even have Madison!! Lol. By the way, everyone already knew how to beat them they just couldn't. We discovered that formula out years ago. Most teams just dont have the personnel to get at Brady.

The Giants run a 4-3 defense so they really arent the formula we're looking for. The Chargers have the best 3-4 defense so I would say they would be a better example but bottom line Parcells will bring his version of the 3-4 here. Personally I prefer a blitzing 4-3 like the Eagles and Giants run but Parcells will get us a very good 3-4 in a few years.

I'll take anything that gets us to the promiseland, but if I'm modeling after any franchise how can anyone argue with what New England has done. They will be at the very least a threat to win the Superbowl for 3-5 more years.

Mmm... not really. The Giants have a very strong passing game. We ran Ricky Williams till he couldn't breath any more.

I'm not entirely convinced that we're going to run a 3-4 defense. I don't know why everyone automatically assumes that.

It's harder to acquire the personnel for a 3-4, and in case you haven't noticed our personnel cupboard is pretty bare.

Parcells isn't the coach or the defensive coordinator, and Sparano isn't a defensive coach.
If they're smart they'll base their defensive system around the strengths of the players they're able to acquire, and not force the players we have to play in a system that doesn't fit them.

That formula makes me smile. I love that sceme. I also can see us executing somewhat like the Giants. Just better running.

We run a 3-4 as people have noted. Plus, Manning's a QB who can perform in the clutch and has great intangibles. And despite having four years under his belt, is still the same age as Beck. I'm not sure Beck has that much time left to groom. And they field two 6'3 and up WR's as well as two good receiving TE's which is a boon for a young QB. We have none of the above.

its exactly why we should draft Dorsey........ Why did we allways give NE trouble ? because of our front 7, mainly the d-line. The Giants won because of their dominant D-line.

The Giants 4-3 is actually extremely similar to the 4-3 we ran about five years ago.

I'd love to see us own an O-line like they did the Pats though.
