Carl Banks, Giants Hofer, just reported on Sirius Radio that he talked to Ernie Acorsi, the giants Gm, and he said "the Giants are passing on Lavar because of the price tag and injury concerns." It is posted on bigblueinteractive.com message board under Carl Banks update on Lavar.Hope this is true

That's great news for us. Hopefully he'll see that we're the best option as the big FA money starts to dry up.

From everything I have heard, LaVar has been made an offer that he deems as "fair." If these other teams continue to pull out, I would assume he would be ours right?

Well the Bengals didn't offer him a contract, the Jaguars & Giants balked at his demands and unless someone else jumps into the LaVar Arrington sweepstakes, I think he's ours, right?

Wasn't he down to deciding between us and Jacksonville... ....either way this may be another Brees like move.....money? injury?....no info being release?....something smells fishy...

Hey,

Not to ruin anyone's party.. but if a team with supposedly more $$$ than us (I think, maybe I am wrong) is balking because his demands are too high and he has injury concern, why are you guys jumping for joy? Sure, that means he's more likely to come here, but he's coming w/ an inflated pay scale and the injury bug.

I used to want Arrington, but I'd much rather have Manny Lawson at this point.

We got the chance of sign Lavar maybe for less money. The doors of a big and multiyear contract for Lavar are almost close.

It's not like we are going to raise our offer to meet his demands......people are excited becasue it looks like he is going to have to lower his demands to accept our offer. As for the injury concerns.....he has either already been fully examined or will be in the near future....either way, our doctors will have a say in his signing, not the doctors from these other teams.

And I think it's crazy to say that you'd rather have Manny Lawson than Lavar Arrington and Santonio Holmes (or C.Jackson or J.Williams or W.Justice or whoever else you want them to pick at #16...even Manny Lawson).

Kffl had a report earlier that Arrington was traveling to another team today to meet on Thursday.

KFFL is down right now otherwise I would provide a link.

I will later.

It's not about whom I would rather have, but the salary implications. I don't want to be paying someone $6.5 million a year if he is not going to live up to it like last year. Obviously, I would like to have the #16 plus an OLB, however, I would want to do it with due diligence with assurances that Midda Arrington doesn't start turding it up like he did in Redskin Nation. If Gregg Williams was a slack DC, I would excuse the coach as incompetent and err on the side of LaVar. However, GW is awesome and it scares me that he had to bench him (and not because he was injured).
