Gibson's Rostor Spot in Jeopardy?

He'll be on the team. Was doing to good to cast aside. Seems like he should be ready to go for the season from what I've read too.

I remember similar articles when Hartline was recovering in the offseason. Disregard.

Everyones roster spot is in Jeopardy at all times if we want to put it that way.

We havent even come close to using all of our salary cap. Why would we be trying to cut the few talented offensive players we have?

This is just speculation by Andrew Abramson that they could release him if he isn't healthy. Highly doubt Gibson is going anywhere.

That would be a terrible move to cut him just because Matthews played well. Why cut good (cheap) players just because he is recovering from an injury. Let him play and provide depth if anything, we ALL saw how any player can get hurt at any time in the season. I would much rather have him or Matthews stepping in over a guy like Marlon Moore.

The Dolphins would have to eat about $2 million to release Gibson, but they have a cheap, capable slot replacement in Rishard Matthews. Gibson should make the team as long as he's healthy. Apr 9 - 2:59 PM

I like Rishard and hope he keeps progressing but I think it's a little much to say they are the same player...especially near the red zone from what we saw last year.

Hard to imagine releasing Gibson, who played very well before the injury, even if he is not ready for camp. We save $1.7M, and who are we gonna find anywhere near as good for that or any amount at this point?

Gibson is more than 1.7 mil better than Matthews if he's healthy. He only gets cut if he's not healthy by the mid-point of the preseason. If we could recoup the whole 3.7 mil it might be a different conversation. I hate that they moved the draft off so far into the offseason...these stupid stupid articles is what we now get. Like the 10th mentioning that we are lobbying to trade Wallace, its irresponsible and sensationalist journalism.....anyone with half a brain would figure out NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE F'n league is trading for a 17 million dollar man, and we're not going to release him and take that big of a cap hit.

Good Lord I wish they would put the draft back in mid-April.

Gibson was on pace for over 60 catches and at least 6 TDs before his injury. Letting him go b/c Matthews had 1 awesome game last year would be foolish.

I have a hard time following the logic of releasing Gibson, unless he's so injured he's going miss the entire season. Saying Miami would have to pay Gibson $2 million, but would save $1 million by releasing him isn't true because you would still have to spend between $500,000 and $800,000 for a fourth receiver so you would really be saving very little.

Matthews did more than have one awesome game last year but, that should have nothing to do with keeping Gibson.

This article is stupid. He was one of our best receivers before he got hurt.

That's news to me. His best game other than @ Tampa Bay was 5 catches for 64 yds vs New England. His 2 TDs all year were both in the game @ Tampa Bay.
