Alright, so the last thread is gone. I didn't get to see any replies being the posts from yesterday are gone. So those who replied, reply again... exactly the same. Those who didn't... reply anyways.
2008 Miami Dolphins Mock Draft
1. Chris Long, DE, Virginia.
--Now some people want to bring in Glen Dorsey, some want to bring in Jake Long, some want Darren McFadden... Some even want Matt Ryan. To each and his own, I suppose, but in my opinion Chris Long will be the selection. Not only will he be the selection, he'll be the right selection. Long will come to Miami and be a force right away, standing opposite to Jason Taylor as either a OLB in the 3-4 or as a DE in the 4-3. With Jason Taylor demanding double teams, it'll free up Chris Long, who happens to be the son of a Hall of Fame DE, Howie Long. Worse comes to worse, they'll leave Taylor free. Expect more sacks with this deadly pass rushing combination.
2a. Fred Davis, TE, USC.
--Our tight ends last year weren't exactly incredible, they were barely mediocre. Dropped passes and whiffed blocking assignments lead most Dolphins fans to think that David Martin is not a legit #1 tight end. Martin will be demoted and Fred Davis will come to Miami as our legit tight end threat. Davis has an incredible blend of size, speed, and athleticism that will rack in passing yards and his blocking skills, while not exceptional, are dependable. If Davis falls to our first second pick, I am almost 99% positive Miami will select him.
2b. Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M.
--Red Bryant will replace Keith Traylor as Miami's 3-4 NT and will be a force for years. He'll be able to take on 2 defenders because of his size and with his athleticism, should get to the quarterback a few times during the year. If Solai pans out, we could have a possible 4-3 rotation that compares to Jacksonville's Henderson and Stroud. That's very dreamy right now, but it's possible.
3. Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa.
--Charles Godfrey is a playmaker. Period. Godfrey has plenty of speed and should impress many people at the combine. He'll more than likely come in competing with Will Allen and possibly show that we have a potential stud cornerback for years. Whenever Iowa needed a big play on defense, if anyone did it, it was Godfrey. I've watched him for a few years now and I've been nothing but impressed with him. He's a leader on and off the field, which is a definite plus.
4. J Leman, ILB, Illinois.
--Leman is another big playmaker that could go on to replaceable one of Miami's greatest players, Zach Thomas. While Zach Thomas could return next year, the signs are pointing to Thomas' last season in Miami. Leman is tackling machine and will be able to take over for Thomas. He could compete with Channing Crowder as an ILB in the 3-4 and probably start as MLB in the 4-3.
6. Adrian Arrington, WR, Michigan.
--Possible wishful thinking here, Arrington could go high, but he could also go low. This year's WR talent is very deep and Arrington is one of the many selections at WR that wouldn't be a bad one. I've followed him since his high school days in Cedar Rapids and he's been a playmaker everywhere he's been. He'll be a great addition to the WR with Ted Ginn Jr. and Marty Booker and probably will come to Miami as the slot receiver unless Derek Hagan can turn heads.
7. Matt Flynn, QB, LSU.
--Matt Flynn has very good size and a prototypical QB, standing 6'3" and weighing a hair under 230. He's excelled in LSU and will be nothing more than a project player. He'll come in as the 3rd QB option behind John Beck and Trent Green. Could possibly be more if Beck doesn't pan out and he shows promise.
Miami's Free Agents
1. Asante Samuel, CB, New England.
--Before I start, I'd like to mention that I would much rather see Marcus Trufant or Nnamdi Asomugha here. I don't see either of their teams letting these two fine players leave so I expect to see Samuel in aqua and orange next year. Asante Samuel will provide instant credibility to our secondary. Think about it, Asante Samuel and Will Allen. Then throw in Charles Godfrey and Michael Lehan as our nickel and dime corners. I'm getting excited already...
2. Flozell Adams, OT, Dallas Cowboys.
--The Parcells connection will bring Adams to Miami as our right tackle. Adams will provide some veteran leadership to our offensive line and will be the only change from last year. I see our offensive line shaping out with Vernon Carey, Drew Mormino, Samson Satele, Rex Hadnot, and Flozell Adams. Not too shabby.
3. Gibril Wilson, S, New York Giants.
--Probably wishful thinking again, but it'd be nice to see Wilson come to Miami as our FS. Wilson is a playmaker and if New York lets him go, I'd love to see him come to Miami. Jason Allen would reside as the SS, enabling to make big hits. I am not too confident in this signing and wouldn't be surprised to see Allen return at FS and Miami bringing in Erik Coleman or Nick Ferguson providing depth for injury prone Yeremiah Bell at SS.
4. Jason Ferguson, DT, Dallas Cowboys.
--One the other Cowboys that will come to Miami due to.. Bill Parcells. Ferguson will provide competition to Red Bryant and become a mentor for Bryant. Ferguson may come in a situational player, but I don't see him coming to Miami as a big time player.
5. Rex Hadnot, OG, Miami Dolphins.
--Miami will resign one of their linemen from last year. Hadnot was a leader of the offensive line and will return to keep Miami's offensive line consistent.
6. Yeremiah Bell, S, Miami Dolphins.
--Bell will be given a one year contract more than likely due to his injury. I'm pretty glad we didn't give him the contract most of us wanted to early 2007. I think Bell will return as the starting SS or at least be given competition to compete for that spot.
7. Jesse Chatman, RB, Miami Dolphins.
--Chatman filled in for Ronnie Brown very well early on until he was hindered by an ankle injury. He tried to play through it but you could tell it wasn't helped by it. Chatman will return to Miami to back up Brown and Booker will be given a chance to play a similar role of Reggie Bush as the team's scat back/change of pace back.
