This is a game of skills and position players. Our boy Dan was unquestionably one of the best QBs to play the game but his supporting cast always lacked a goto, elite RB. A component that was (hard to believe) overlooked by the great Don Shula, but it happened. I see Cam as a coach that is looking for components, solid playmakers that will contribute at a level that will make the players around them better. Ginn and Beck will flat out make this team better because they replace and fill voids. Was Wes a good return guy/slot receiver? Sure, but he wasn't a game changer, he was adequate but how many TD's did he score on a return. Again adequate but not game changing, let NE have him. This is all about elevating the game and improvement. We may or may not see instant reward but it will come. Let Cam work his system then see what it produces, my thought is we are building a winner. It might take a couple of seasons but as we saw from the almighty Saban it can't be done over night signing aging FA's. This will be a work in progress and we have to be patient enough to see the results!

extremely well said twoards the ending especially

I agree.

Look at it this way, the Phins have been so horrible the last few years, they almost have nowhere to go but up!

Seriously though, I love what Cam has done so far. Getting rid of dead weight and overpriced players, getting extra draft picks, addressing the offense, adding speed to the offense, and selecting the players he rates the best despite what everyone else thinks.

Let's give him a couple years and see what happens.

i agree very weel said! watch beck's highlights on youtube man oh man he takes hit after hit and keeps on truking. he has 8" d-lineman in his face gets rocked but he puts the ball on the money! i cant wait till he f;lourishes for us!

The running back position wasn't overlooked by Don Shula. In 1985 Lorenzo Hampton was taken with our 1st round selection. In 1989 Sammie Smith was taken with our 1st round selection. In 1991 Aaron Craver was taken with our 3rd round selection. Shula made an effort to address the RB position but none of the guys he drafted ever turned out to make a difference for us.

I agree, I think Shula was trying but I just feel that the ability to run starts with the ability to RUN block. Most of our guys at the time were much better suited to pass blocking and you know how hard it must be to call a running play when you got a freakin' candy store behind center. If Marino was on the field, you were throwing the football. Whenever we tried to run and it wasn't panning out...we never really stuck with it like we should have. So I am not saying Shula didn't try, I am just saying that maybe he didn't FOCUS enough on trying to fix the problem. Trade up...get a better guy...trade picks for a known talent...whatever it took to get Danny that elusive explosive complimentary RB that would have made all the difference and propelled the Golden Arm to super bowl glory where he deserved to be. Sorry...I got carried away...

Miami couldn't run because Marino was so obvious in giving the defense hints when we were gonna run the ball.. Bruce Smith said this once in an interview, it's why Miami couldn't run on that team he said .. As soon as the snap came, Marino would move his hips sideways so they knew the run was coming .. When Marino did the play action, he wouldn't turn his hips like when we were actually running. That's why Marino's play action sucked .. Because all he was doing was wasting time, teams knew we were going to pass anyway ...................................................... Marino should have worked on that .. Other teams simply got a quick beat when we were gonna run because of Marino's bad technique .. That was the biggest problem with MArino .. With Marino, you are never going to be able to run the ball unless you have a dominant offensive line like Dallas had in the 90's .
And Marino's dead giveaways was the reason Miami didn't have a 1000 yard rusher in so many years while he was QB.. Bruce Smith said that as well .
That's the reason why I'd rather have Montana for my team than Marino (as much as I love the dolphins) .. Montana was brilliant with every little detail of the QB position .. And that's why I love the Beck pick, and that's why Cameron loves him - because he pays more attention to detail than any QB in the draft .
