Ginn for carroll. Marshall for egnew. Bess for gillislie. Davis for taylor#fireland

Up until last season, this board viewed Hartline as a bust. Up until this season, Clay was considered a major bust. Gosh, it's amazing to me how no team but the Dolphins spends time developing their drafted players. *sarcasm* :bobdole:

It's amazing how once the Dolphins have a quarterback who is actually competent, Brian Hartline and Charles Clay suddenly look like much better players, even though they still have the same limitations they've always had. Clay still isn't a particularly good blocker and drops too many footballs, and Brian Hartline still can't keep his feet and is less physical than a roll of tissue paper.

Personally I don't miss any of these guys. Bess a little only because he was a hard worker and a team player. However he was a average slot WR. Marshall has more amazing dropped passes than he did touchdowns. Still a top 5 WR just didn't pan out in MIA. Davis had his moments but didn't play to his potential.

Ginn has had a solid nfl career

Please show me the stats that back this up.

9 career receiving TD's over 7 years is solid? His best year was 2008 and he only had 790 receiving yards. He has only started 4 games over the last 4 years. Until this year he never had more than 2 receiving touchdowns in a season. Yeah...real solid.

I said it was a bad trade value wise....which would be on Ireland...
If you're Ireland, what do you do when your new HC says, "I don't want him, I can't use him, so get what you can for him now, so we can move on"? Personally, I think 2x3rds was a good deal for Marshall at that time. Marshall might have played OK for us the previous 2 seasons, but he was beginning to show bad signs of his continuing mental instabilities. Therefore, I think it's quite possible that Ireland simply could not get more for Marshall if other teams did not want to take a chance on the guy for a higher price.

Marshall didn't wan to play for Miami. Just watch his effort at Chicago, he gives 10X more than he did while he was here.

There are dozens of moves that Ireland should be fired for, but Ginn, Bess, and Davis are not part of that equation....

His drafting using those picks is very questionable, but trading those players away are not an issue

Gibson (and possibly Matthews) is a decent upgrade over Bess especially in yards after the catch. I like Grimes and Patterson (when he's on the field!) better than Davis and Smith. The "Wallace Experiment" in theory is an upgrade over Ginn, but Wallace isn't living up to his potential (maybe he needs better coaching and playcalling?). Marshall is better, but he was a cancer and a headcase so I don't miss him. With the exception of Matthews (who was a late round pick), all of the upgrades above were drafted by other teams and became Dolphins through Free Agency. And let's not forget Reggie Bush, who did a nice job for us. It appears that other teams are better at drafting playmakers than Ireland.

I didn't want Ginn gone.. not for a fifth round pick.. He is a solid 3 or 4 receiver as carolina has used him this year I believe he has 4 touchdowns… How many does wallace have again?

Ginn has had a solid nfl career and has been a contributor wherever he has been dont be in denial. Carroll is a liability in coverage every week. Marshall is a monster egnew blows. Bess is still a nice slot WR while gillislie doesnt even play. Vontae davis is a B+ corner with shutdown potential while taylor doesnt even sniff the field. Fire jeff ireland

wait...i stopped the first time i read Ginn.... this board has been calling for his HEAD since day ONE...GTFOH!!!!

If Ginn was anything other than a first round pick he would have been liked here.

Ginn's first year in Miami was HORRIBLE...and Ginn has only been "solid" with carolina...he stunk up the Bay Area too

**side note he is a great fantasy number 3 going forward....but lets be real he HAD to leave Miami

It's funny to me how it seems to be expected that when the Dolphins either trade, release, or don't re-sign a guy that the player shouldn't do a single thing positive in the NFL for the rest of his career.

The Dolphins drafted Ginn way too high and he was never going to live up to the expectations of a Top 10 pick. This year his best game was vs Buffalo (8 catches for 62 yards). The guy is a serviceable return man and good for the occasional TD. That's how he's used in Carolina and that's how he was used in Miami. But a guy like that shouldn't have been drafted high. It wasn't his fault he went Top 10, it was Miami's.

TBH I wanted to pair him with Brandon Marshall. I thought it would've been interesting to see what success those two would've had.

This is how I feel; with Ginn, Marshall and Bess, we would have had a good receiver group.

Ginn makes one play and people are butt-hurt

turn the page people

Bess has been replaced. The problem isn't the slot WR. Both Gibson (before injury) and now Matthews have stepped up for this team. Carrol hasn't been bad at all. Hes not the best in coverage, but he has played solid when Patterson has went down. Some of you guys make it seem like Carrol has been giving up 100 yards and 2 tds every game. I've seen HBs and TEs do as much damage to our team than the players Carrol has been covering. I don't like the Vontae trade, but I'm still waiting to see how Taylor plays. Feels like Philbin has a thing for not playing rookies
