Ginn has scored 14pts this year-Carroll has given up 14pts

Letting go of Ginn was moronic. Period. All summer Ireland talks of speed and we let one of the fastest burners go. No, he wasn't the greatest WR, but his returns are more than reason enough to keep him. For those who say Ginn is trash, guess you'd rather have Gates huh? A slower, lamer version of Ginn.

I agree the Phins shouldn't have let Ginn go. I would've like to have seen him paired with Marshall. Ginn didn't do a whole lot while in Miami but it's him paired with Marshall, Bess, and Hartline would've made for a decent WR core.

And Miami has had zero return TD's since he left. In fact I'd argue we've hardly seen decent returns. I guess you have 2 options with you KR/PR, consistent good field position or occasionally bust one for a TD. We have neither, Ginn would occasionally bust one.
Us not getting another TD return has more to do with crappy special teams than Ted Ginn. Did we not get one in the preseason? Did we not fire the guy that got it? Obviously being strictly a kick returner is not good enough for this front office plus I'm not paying a kick returner 9th overall money when I had Phillip Livas sitting right here for virtually no money and still I let him go. Kick returners can be had as free agents not 9th overall picks and Ginn will lose as many yards as he gains by running out of bounds to early to avoid getting hit.

Funny though, you don't mention him when he was fumbline kick off returns, which is why he doesn't do it any more. He did it in week one cause Hunter was hurt...but you run a big risk when he back there.

from what i hear, ted ginns "hands" has shown a ton of improvement in san francisco, again, this all leads to head tony sparano not being a good head coach, why is it ted ginn is all the sudden turning into a target in sf under jim harbaugh?

Oh....his hands have shown improvement? How many ****ing catches does he have so far this year? 4 catches for 38 yards. Wow...that's scary....

Yep! Missing a ton of production from this guy. (+2 this year...Woot)

fact of the matter is we traded a guy who can have a positive affect ton the scoreboard and put points up for a guy who completely sucks and gives up points with his horrible coverage, i would rather have somebody who might return a kick or give us good field position than have carroll who HAS NO VALUE ON THIS TEAM AT ALL!!!!! the point of this game is to outscore your opponent, not give up touchdowns that help us lose, plain and simple we traded a kick return threat and a deep threat for a special team scrub who couldn't cover my grandmother in wheelchair!!! BAD TRADE PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

Ted Ginn and Nolan Carroll were basically traded for each other, we received a 5th round pick from SF and used it on Carroll, so basically we traded a special team player for a special team player, so far this year ginn has helped the 49ers win a game and score two TD's while carroll has contributed to us losing two games while giving up two TD's. So I know everybody on here wanted Ginn gone because he didn't turn into a #1 receiver and always ran out of bounds avoiding hits, but the question I pose is was it worth it? would you rather have a guy who can score on special teams and is a dangerous KR/PR and can change field position for you, change the scoreboard in a positive way for you, run reverses and occasionally catch a deep ball, or would you rather have a guy who maybe will get a tackle on special teams once in a while and get smoked in coverage and affect the board negatively and has no value on this team, teams are scoring 35-40pts a game now and u need guys that can help u put points on the board not guys that get burned in coverage and give up points, it's too bad the FO doesn't understand that logic yet, either way this was a bad trade idc what anybody says.

there is no debate. it was a terrible trade. u dont give up viable NFL talent that can contribute to your roster and to victories for the foreseeable future, and by this i mean a very very good return man and an option as a 4th receiver for a 5th round draft pick. u just simply dont do it.

but man u crazy startin this thread? lol bad timing for one (of course ginn did have 4 receptions last weekend). for 2 ur either deaf blind and dumb or ur a reasonable, rational person. and finheavens a clear mix of people :). if u want to stir the pot why dont u wait a couple weeks so he can return ANOTHER kick for a touchdown? then u can make ur point

EXACTLY. its not like we are even get semi decent returns when we are starting at our own 40, or heck even midfield, etc. we always seem to start all the way backed in our own territory, and it isnt just one game, its a consistent thing that happens. its really annoying. maybe if we got good field position we would be able to put up more points, rather than have to settle for 8 minute drives each time.

:crazy:Another ginn thread? Ginn scored two touchdowns for us in that game, and thats all he did all that year and prety much all of his career. LET IT GO

lololol anytime just asked ive got 12 pages of red reputation just for having a ginn avatar

Would you dunces get in your head that this was a financial decision? You can't have the #9 overall contract and catch 2 touchdowns a year.

you also got rid of a top ten picks contract... no way we would want to pay ginn that much money if he was only gonna return kicks

i also seem to remember that everyone on this site seemed to anoint carroll as the next steal of the draft and practically a hall of famer ... and now this year they want him cut... shows you just how good people on here can evaluate talent lol

ted ginger is a prime example of our "buy high sell low" strategy or as it's also known the "how to avoid the playoffs" tango. .
