Ted Ginn will never be what he can be with Chad Pennington as the starting QB. Now this doesn't have anything against Chad, Chad is what he is and he's obviously the right QB for the Dolphins as of now. Teddy is too fast and quick of a receiver for chad to throw to and I dont just mean deep routs. Even little out and ins, post and flags. Chad would have to throw so early for the timing to be right that the defense would be able to break on his passes so early. So I think it will be hard for us to judge Teddy until we have a QB that can zip the ball to him.

Second, because of my theory on Teddy and Pennington I think if we want to be true contender we will need a Boldin/Marshall type receiver. I'm not saying it has to be one of them but one with there kind of skill set and production. Maybe we have one on the roster but if not we will need one to be contenders.

Is this only me or does anyone else agree? Thoughts?

couldn't agree more. we need a big time reciever. it was making me sick how many times we would get inside the 10 and settle for a fg.

I'm glad you said "Marshall type" and not Marshal per se. He's proven himself to be such a whiny little ***** that Denver would have to pay Parcells to take him off their hands. Denver's public suspension of him, from a trade value standpont, has the same effect as driving a new car off the lot: soon as that happens it automatically depreciates by 10-25%. Now Boldin is another story: he's manned up and inwardly subjugated his wants and feelings in the best interests of his team. If you're gonna give up the farm to secure him, and pay the wideout a kings ransom to boot, it's easier justifying doing it for a Boldin than a trouble-making POS.

Believe me, you don't want Marshall...living in Denver and seeing him around, this guy is a total headcase. He's done stuff in this town that has been "swept under the rug" as well.

He's a suspension waiting to happen, either through the team (like what happened this week) or through the NFL.

Too bad too, because he's a hell of a talent.

Dont get me wrong I am a fan of Ginn and I support Pennington, all I'm saying is I dont think Ginn can reach his full potential with Pennington as the Q. This has nothing to do with Henne

If Ginn is going to prove he can be a great receiver, an All Pro, he should be able to show it with any QB. When Ginn starts catching some short out, flanks and short ins and starts making some yards with his speed and skills then you might have an argument, right now he is still in his developmental stage.

We do need a #1 receiver but that ship has sailed already... It's too late to trade for Boldin and Marshall is a headcase of epic proportions, way worse than TO. I said all along that we should have traded for Ochocinco as a stop gap guy for a few years, and in pre season he looks like he's back to his form of a few years ago. Either that, or we should have drafted Nicks at 25, he fits Pennington's game perfectly.

Full potential....is that more than one reception a game?

As far as Marshall goes....please...he's a bad boy? WOW....he's a complainer...WOW! He's far better the last two years than any receiver we have...YES and WOW!!

Lets face the facts...Marshall has gained over 2600 yds in the last two seasons...could we use a receiver like that? The NFL is full of bad boys...full of guys that don't grow up until late...and did the Broncos cause this from the start...ubetcha. Now ask yourself...how many bad boys do the Dolphins have on their roster right now...did everyone forget about Ricky...how about Tony McDaniel? How about V. Davis...didn't he have a bad rep coming out of college? If the guy can improve your team and ISN'T an axe murderer...why not?

My god these threads are sooo OLD :tumbleweed:

no , what is old is how some dolphin fans are not serious about winning and think our wr corp is perfect

News flash never turn down a playmaker regardless of whether or not we are rebuilding.

damn it guys I want to win and i want to win badly . settling for less some folks do is not my m.o. I want my team to win but i also want to score more then 2 touchdowns per game I want our team to get to where we are talked about in a good light and i want to hear about our players not about the BILL,S JETS AND PATS.

IT would not kill some of you to realize that some of us want to be a jugarnaut not a team the sqeaks by .
hell this was why a lot of us wanted wanny gone .

I think you must be mistaken about penny. He constantly throws early on routes. He's a timing type quarterback. WRs must be on their toes because he will throw the ball even before the WR is looking. The problem with the penny to Ted connection is teds ability to run clean routes and break of defenders early. That's why you see penny have better chemistry with hartline, Camarillo, or Bess because of their ability to shake a defender quickly and be to the spot on the field where penny is suppose to be throwing to. Why you think hartline was drawing those penelties on #27 of the bucs? He was making that one quick move and burning him so 27 started trying to jam him more. The thing with Ginn is he makes those long strides and tends to be jammed to much.

The whole timing and throwing early causes the check down passes we see alot. Penny is smart an anticipates really well. He's not going to make a throw unless he feels the wr will be open after the cut. This is also why he throws so few ints and why you hear all the wrs talk about developing the timing with penny. Penny will also talk about being QB friendly. He's talking about the wrs knowing the spots on the field where they will be open. Ted is not the best at this. He will run behind a defender on slant where he should cut in front. I love Ted to death but Ted is not quick he is fast which hurts his ability to get open quickly. I feel like by week 3 this year penny and Ted will have it worked out and you will start to see alot of 20+ yard receptions.

sorry for the bad quoting, but I'm working off the phone an it doesn't give me that option. Also, so for the rambling. Just thought I'd share some knowledge so maybe we can put some of these threads to rest.
