I was skeptical of Ted Ginn when he was drafted. Not for his potential, but, the injury he suffered in the BCS Title game. Was he was fully healed when drafted? I don’t think so.

He was not all the way back until ½ way thru his rookie season. Also, I thought Miami needed DL help. Imagine how much less concern for the future at that position there would be if the phins drafted Okobe (then 19 from Louisville).

Its strange that Beck had more haters and irrationally so.. Both were drafted by the same brain trust who are almost universally despised in this site. Yet, some cult of personality/mystique has surrounded Ginn from day one

I agree it takes 3 seasons for a WR to truly develop in the NFL. Some (myself included) can’t help but notice hesitancy and avoidance of contact which JMO is a lingering effect of the aforementioned injury

The theory that keeps rearing its ugly head is; Ginn will never reach his true greatness with Penny as QB. Nonsense. Ginn’s greatest asset is his speed. Only using him on go routes and/or deep balls is ridiculous. In fact, that would hinder his growth. The vertical passing game has its places but to have it be your exclusive aerial philosophy is Al Davis delusional. Look at the Mike Martz led Rams. Holt, Bruce, and company had speed to burn but it was all about matchups, motion, & timing. Imagine throwing a bunch of flare passes, Screens (bubble & middle) and then letting Ted to his thing. Much IMO like the Saints would like to do w/ R Bush if he were ever healthy.

This is where Pat White in the Wildcat might help. Imagine Pat & Ronnie in the backfield and Ginn replacing Penny or Ricky.

I’m sure some of you are rushing out to get your matches and am looking forward to your opinions.
