7-8... Lets stop all the talk about beating the world champ Steelers and focus on what this team has or has not for next year.

What players do we play next week? Well first, rest our 'new' franchise QB. We wouldn't want him to get hurt now in his run for NFL player of the year next year. He's done a heck of a job this year, huh? Especially the last 2-3 games. Lets put the 'failed' 2nd round pick out there, for a whole game, and find out what he's made of. Nothing to lose now. Worst case scenario, he shows what he does or doesn't have and we can toss him, like many here would have us do before even having him run 10 plays all year. He could get us a good trade or draft pick. What did he do today for the Dolphins? Anyone see him in the shotgun? Or were all the negative fans screaming at the coaching staff when he came on the field? Best case scenario, Parcells shows many that he made a good choice and the kid makes Henne look average. Maybe he can hit someone in the open or at least put the ball within reach. He might even be able to read his receivers/coverage and not overthrow half of them. If he's dead weight, get rid of him. No matter what number or name is on the jersey.

There were a bunch of screw ups today.

Lets all be real fans and evaluate what will bring us to the playoffs next year and stop all the player bandwagon garbage.

So we're going to sit Henne this week so he can get a head start in resting for the next 8 months before our next game ?

oh boy, I thought I heard it all from this board.

Yeah lets rest everyone so we can finish 7-9 and have a losing season. :rolleyes2:

Screw that.

Hindsight's 20/20 of course, but maybe, if we had given Pennington "a 3 game rest" at the start of the season there might have the proverbial brighter light at the end of the tunnel THIS season.

If nothing else, you bring comic relief, even if that's not your intention.

And one game decides if Miami should cut Pat White? Henne and the entire team will be getting plenty of rest once the regular season concludes.

You are so missing the point...

Umm no. you're missing the point. Henne is not a finished product and the last thing you want to do is sit him out.. which will have a chance of him losing his confidence going into a long off season workout regimen.

It's just silly to sit out a first year starter at this spot in week 17. Just a stupid idea..

And of course, he himself needs as much playing time as possible. Going into the off season on a high note.. You know, as the Steelers do have a weak pass defense this year.. their secondary has been atrocious without Polamalu back there.

The one thing that could be a positive is Henne finishing on a high note heading into the off season. They need as much tape on Henne as possible going forward against as many different defenses as possible, so they have a clear picture of every little thing he needs to work on this off season.

No team sits a promising first-year starter in this spot unless they're absolutely clueless.

No, A 'true' dedicated football fan wants what is best for his/her team. This means hoping the coaching staff evaluates all players and gives them all a chance to prove themselves. Unless an injury happens, the only way to do that is determine a decisive time when it can be done. This appears to be one of those times.

We may have won 7 games with Henne as a starter but he has not proven, in any of them, that you can lay the game on his shoulders and he will pull it out. If anyone on the team has, it's been Ricky.

Henne has had time to show what he has. The results are disputable.

yeah ricky lol he lit it up today and helped lose last weeks game

Though I can understand your interpretation, I am not saying cut White if he doesn't show a good game. I am merely saying, give him a look. Henne will get rest during the off season but hopefully he will get LOTS of work too. If sitting a game to evaluate his possible backup gives him some confidence complex then...

Is there something in the water out there in NY? This post belongs in ganggreen.com, not here.

I wonder what would have happened in INDY, going into the last week of Mannings rookie season. Hmmm, Manning only won 3 games his rookie year...and threw 25+ INTS. Maybe they should have brought back J. George to finish out the season since Manning showed very little his rookie year to say he would be great.

Tell me about it. It's easy to look at his Passer Rating and say, damn, he sucks.......he's at the bottom of the league in passer rating. But not only has he had the toughest pass defense schedule in the NFL, but he's also looked better passing the ball than what his passer rating indicates. I've seen so much **** on this board about him overthrowing balls, but I've seen a lot of NFL games and even the best quarterbacks have sailed a lot of balls. It happens, particularly when you have receivers that don't get much separation, which forces the QB to throw into tighter windows (something Henne has had to do a lot).

I've seen and heard people mention how he looks "scared in the pocket" and how he dances. I'm not sure about him looking scared, but as for the dancing in the pocket, take a look at Peyton Manning. Usually those who look scared in the pocket take a lot of sacks and fumble a lot. Henne has has gotten sacked (on average) once every 19.5 drop backs and has yet to lose a fumble (still early). That's pretty damn good.

As for the interceptions, 3-4 (a net of 2-3 with the INT Hartline saved) of those aren't even his fault, which is a huge percentage considering the sample size. He has some things he needs to work on, namely putting touch on the ball, but all of his weaknesses, are correctable. And I find that very encouraging.

So many people focus on the negative. Henne hasn't looked great, I'll admit that, but he's been far from league bottom. That's not to say he won't bust, but at this point I see no reason to assume he will bust. At this point, Henne has been mediocre, that's not a red flag yet.

Stupid idea. He needs as much work as he can get. Play all the young players.
