In light of the D. Jordan Fiasco I've come to the conclusion that having more picks is better than having high picks. The reason being is that the Draft is a crapshoot at best. There will be players taken top 15 that end up huge disappointments and there will also be players taken after the top 10 that end up being pro bowlers. I think the reason for this is that the on the field skills that can be measured by NFL teams with 40 times, shuttle runs, High\Broad jumps etc... only fills in a quarter of the puzzle. The TWO MOST IMPORTANT THINGS that CAN'T be measured by game film, wonderlic tests, 40 times or football drills, is A PLAYERS HEART AND LOVE FOR THE GAME.

The #1 question GM's need to figure out is... are they playing the game for the fame and fortune OR are they playing it for the LOVE OF THE GAME? Would they play this game if they WERE NOT GETTING PAID? Because it's one thing to put in the work to be great in college when you know a kings ransom is at the end of the rainbow, but WILL THEY HAVE THAT SAME MOTIVATION WHEN THEY'VE REACHED THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAINBOW AND NOW HAVE THE POT OF GOAL IN HAND? Do you want to be GREAT or do you just want to be RICH AND FAMOUS?

Unfortunately for GM's there's no test for that So I'll take my chances with more picks with the idea of having more chances to find the players that have skills who also LOVE THE GAME and want to be GREAT!!

quality over quantity. It'd be great to get both, but gotta aim for great unless there is no player you liken then you try to get more picks

Also, I think the dolphins brass knew about the suspension during the pre-draft conference last week and that's why they paused when asked about Jordan, and the mantra for the presser was "Finding Players that LOVE THE GAME"

If you'll risk suspension by smoking weed or taking drugs.... how much can you really love the game?

Nah, I want the impact player at #14

I don't look at it that we don't have a 3rd round pick, we have an established receiver in Stills for it. That's gold as far as I'm concerned. Let's face it, it's going to take two more drafts to right this ship. If one of the big WRs is sitting at 14, you go for it.

Having more picks is less important than having the right picks.

I agree, people are like lets take the elite player at 14, because if you trade down you're not getting the same quality of player. Well that's hogwash, it's a complete crapshoot anyways so dropping down 10 picks isn't going to guarantee you are getting a worse player.

I like value over both quality and quantity... I still believe that if you know how to draft you can get a good player in any round... Just need a great talent evaluator.. Hickey is not bad at all when looking at his drafts. He may be that guy we need.

That Landry pick last year was pure value. Great job by Hickey.

I might have more agreed with you if the picker was still Ireland. However, Hickey hit it out of the park on his first two selections last year, so I have faith he'll do it again and secure us a bonefide starring starter or two (just so long as Tannenbum stays the **** out of his way).

Disagree.

Yes the Jordan pick sucked major ass for us, but that still doesn't mean we should be striving for lesser talent. The fact is - great talent goes quick in the draft. When you can grab a guy with it, you do it!

See the thing to me is at 14 most likely Gurley and Parker will be gone. So no elite player will be available. I'd trade down with say Dallas or SD if they want Gordon that badly

Doesn't guarantee it, but the odds sure aren't in your favor.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to trading down, but the value needs to be there. You don't just say welp, pick 14 sucks, let's go trade it for twenty 5th round picks and pick a bunch of bums and hope to get lucky.

I believe in the Jimmy Johnson theory. Move down for more picks. If we frat 10 players and hit on half then you have 5 good players. If you draft y and hit on half you got 3 good players. Also, takibg a player at 14 doesn't guarantee you an elite player. Taking a player at 20 doesn't prevent you from drafting a player that becomes elite. Value is the main thing like JJ used to say. When he drafted Sam Madison in round 2 he got value. Of course he could recognize defense way better than offense.

Ozzy rules!!

I agree we gotta aim for great... but great players are found all over the draft. The more picks you have the more chances you have to find greatness.

I don't know, I just know I'm going to get nervous after the first four pics are out of the way.
