OK the secondary has looked awful the last 2 games but instead of just saying "they suck" here are some stats.

#1. Phillip Rivers 991 yds
#2. Peyton Manning 983 yds.

Yah those are the NFL passing stats so far this year. The names are quite familiar... and they seem to be there year after year...

the only other quarterback we're going to play this year that is close to their level is Brees.

Give our young secondary a break they just played arguably the 2 best quarterbacks in the world... manning made them look bad yes, but he's been making secondaries look bad his entire career.

Let's see how they do for the rest of the year before just screaming out that we need to cut Gibril, replace bell, replace w.allen, cut jones etc etc

Our biggest problem has been at LB/S...out of the 606 yards Manning and Rivers combined for 292 or those yards went to TEs and RBs.

agreed LB and S are the major concerns on this defense. (LB especially.. ayodele and crowder are garbage)

I think Davis should be getting more playing time. Last week he showed some flashes of being a playmaker. In stead of splitting time with Smith And Davis, they should keep smith in and split time with Davis and Allen

As bad as a lot of people think Crowder is, are team looked completely lost without him against KC last season. His weakness is definitely pass coverage and teams know that and game plan to take advantage of that. If we can have a more effective pass rush, it would take a lot of pressure off of Crowder in pass coverage. Lets face it, if a QB has all day to throw, Ray Lewis wouldn't even be able to keep up with the most TE's and HB's.

Agreed that they are great QB's but we absoultely held them in check if it wasn't for a couple plays in 2 games. Rivers had 2 amazing throws to Jackson and Floyd off PA passes and Manning had a night with Clark because Clark is a monster, and how dare you blame crowder to cover him one on one for more than 5 seconds. Peyton had all day sometimes and no time others, problem is we get pressure 40% of the time, the other 60% is nothing and is why our secondary looks crappy.

If it wasn't for a bad defensive gameplan against IND we win that game, if Penny didn't go down and Brown doesnt fumble on the 1 (why run a split backs formation on the one yard line against a goaline D?) we win the SD game. Simple as that I believe. The good QB's will make atleast a couple great throws if you give them enough chances.

i have a quick question.....
would trading Ronnie away for a first and a late rounder, using the 1st to get the best RB we like avalible and the later round for depth, then using that money to sign someone like Demeco Ryans
Then using our high high first rounder to get eric berry, and our second to get an OLB like Rennie Curran who is a stud and might fall to the second where we should have a resonably high pick help us out? then just start clemons who is supose to be a ballhawking safety who the coaches like alot into the mix with roth healthy and maybe Channing if he steps it up. is that an improvement? ;]

what this team needs is a franchise player, (Colts-Manning, NE- Brady/Moss, NO- Brees/Colston/ Pierre thomas, Atlanta- Matt Ryan/ gonzo/ white/ turner) the list goes on and on, great teams have great play, superstars. we dont really have game changers. i can easily see Vontae Davis and Sean Smith here and being shutdown CB's for a long long time. i like them alot but u need more than that.

If and thats an If, henne can become something close to a matt ryan or joe flacco then that helps a TON as in a couple of years worth of rebuilding. What we need are franchise players that will be here year in and year out.

how does that stat help the dolphins at all?
the dolphins let both those QB's throw for over 300 yards..

So let's trade our only franchise player then!!!!!

When did P.Thomas become a franchise player? He's played one game against the Bills!

None of those teams traded the house for some extra picks, getting Moss for a 4th was a joke. Atlanta traded a 2nd for TG after all the pieces were in place.

Are you going to change every thread into a trade RB thread?

I expected Manning to make those huge completions. He is probably the best QB in the history of the NFL.

I did not expect our last man to miss the critical tackle that turned that huge completion into a TD.

Most people are pissed off because of the little things like that that cost us a LOT. I don't think you'll meet anyone who is upset that our secondary is not intercepting every ball thrown beyond the LOS.

Also remeber most teams require their outside linebackers to help cover tightends and backs, not their middle linebackers. However both of our outside linebackers would be greatly mismatched in pass coverage. Can you imagine Taylor trying to cover sproles downfield?

The scary thing is that about half of Manning's and River's yards came against the Dolphins. Make no mistake, our pass defense is still not too good. Smith has been fantastic and Davis will be great; really our CB have been pretty good overall. However, we still do not have a good/great pass rush and our ILB couldn't cover an old lady with a walker. TE and passes over the middle have eaten the Fins alive this year and they will continue to have a hard time winning until the ILB and Safeties begng shutting don the passing game in the middle of the field.
