Before last years draft some people said that we shouldn't use our 1st round pick on a running back but Saban addressed a position that he felt needed to be solidified. Now if Saban didn't take that approach we would be in the same situation that Wannstedt was in his last year as coach. Granted Ricky retired right before the season started. But at least this year Ronnie Brown has a year or experience under his belt and I think he'll be ready to go this year. It's just one more example that Saban is building this team the way he wants this team to be.

Great Site, go phins!!!

My thoughts exactly.

FOR ALL YOU FIN FANS who think "THIS IS SOOO HORRIBLE!! AAAh!"

Ricky was just going to be an "extra" for us this year. Just like last year...But anyway...
We've got our STUD workhorse just chilling back there. (THANK YOU SABAN!!) We're gonna be JUST FINE this year. And a year from now, we can all have these "trade ricky and get a pick for him" discussions aaall over again. And I'll of course explain to yall again that he's not worth anything! He's gonna have to play yet another year here in Miami in order to raise his value again. (which I dont see how after ANOTHER confirmed failed drug test, his 4th, will his value EVER get back up)

the most educated post I have seen in a while

Agreed.
If you were a player on the dolphins how could you not be proud of your coach, who backs his players who work hard.
We are in good shape at RB. I believe if Morris rushed for almost 600
yards against a bad o-line 2 yrs ago, then he can back up Brown.
Brown will do well this year. Contrary to a lot of people who do not know anything about his abilities. Pick him up n your fantasy leagues this year and watch the show.

MR RONNIE BROWN will be just fine ,morris and minor can pick up the slack when MR BROWN needs a blow .GO PHINS

If you think Ricky was just an extra last season then you must of been watching a different kind of football then i was. Ricky was one of the main reasons that the Dolphins finished the season with 6 stright wins. I don't believe that we are going to be just fine as you put it this season. Ricky was a big part of the team last season and will be missed. If by chance Ronnie gets hurt we are in big trouble as far as the running game. Morris is ok but he is no Ricky Williams. I believe that the NFL was just tired of Ricky, and i don't think that the NFL quite forgot what Ricky said when he retired the first time.

If we cant win without Ricky then we are not as good of a team as we think we are. I believe we are O.K. Morris and Minor know that they need to step up when called. Give them a chance before you condem us.
P.S. The NFL was just following procedure. Its not a personal decisin as you have stated.

I think the Dolphins will be fine at running back (as opposed to being great). Ronnie showed plenty of flashes of greatness last year, and Sammy Morris is a solid back-up. As mentioned previously, he averaged almost 4 yards per carry behind a terrible offensive line in 2004. I personally want to see what Kay Jay Harris can do. Having Ricky in the backfield would certainly have been a luxury, but the Dolphins will move on without him this upcoming season. With Culpepper, Chambers, McMichael, Booker, Ronnie, and an offensive line coached extremely well by Houck, I think the offense is in good shape.

I love your optimism. I'm jumpin on board, it's time to move forward with the team we have. We'll be better than ok I believe that.

Interesting......because I believe that Ricky took some more drugs and got himself suspended. He is a selfish jerk, that being said, I like him and wish this hadn't happened....but come on....India, Yoga instructor, what a looney!

Taking Ronnie was a no-brainer. Almost every expert in the business knew that was the correct choice. Though it is nice to know that Saban went with the correct move.

Here are his stats in those final 6 games:
WK TEAM ATT YDS REC YDS TD
12 oak | 16 82 | 13 | 1 |
13 buf | 11 46 | 32 | 1 |
14 sdg | 11 28 | 0 | 0 |
15 nyj | 14 70 | 4 | 1 |
16 ten | 26 172 | 3 | 1 |
17 nwe | 28 108 | 0 | 1 |
His stats were modest in most games aside form the Tennessee ganme that we won 24-10 (and wasn't that close). I would say the schedule had more to do with those 6 wins than Ricky did.
