Give Sherman a Break

he deserves a ton of praise. he told tannehill not to use his legs early in the season to develop pocket passing skills. now, those chains have been taken off, tannehill is beasting and notice no more fumbles from him.
 
Just keep it up. One of my issues with him is he's been inconsistent, not sure if its because he's just up and down in general or if he goes to the well too often on plays that work and defenses eventually figure him out. I suspect he's a great motivator/teacher but he needs help in the strategy/play design department.
 
If you don't like Sherman look around the league, there are a lot of other teams in lots worse shape. Indy hasn't thrown a first half TD since week 7. I know there might be some one out there a little better but changing OCs will take us half the year next year to get everyone on the same page, and then the new OC will have problems as well. Sherman might not be the very best but he is good enough and I like the idea of everyone being with the same OC better than the slight improvements we MIGHT get from someone new. Change for the sake of change is never good. We have one of the best 2:00 minute offenses in the league and are getting better in every area. Get better talent on the OL and our offense will be fine.

On a side note, go watch the Sherman interview today over on the home site. There is a bit at the end that is too freaking funny. A reporter gets a good crack on him. He can be funny when he wants to be and really has the teams respect. I personally think it would be a mistake to get rid of him.
 
No complaints since he changed it up to using TE's.

I'm guessing every fanbase hates their OC at some points, in my opinion OC is just a notch or two below Head Coach in the difficulty department.

Uhhhhhmmmm, biggest play of the game, 4th and 5 on our last drive, Tannehill to Clay, we convert. That was a perfectly executed SCREEN against a well positioned defense to stop it. :bobdole:

I'm unlike most on this board, I don't have a problem with Sherman, He may upset me from time to time but generally he has a good game plan and I don't blame an OC because the offense can't execute, I blame the players.....yesterday our coaches matched Belicheat and his crew play for play and we beat them in the 2nd half which most teams have been unable to do.....I like the fact this coaching staff took that lost in New England personal and was up for the rematch......
 
He was very creative yeserday at key times. The Thomas and Thigpen tds were great play designs
 
I don't know if I want him back next year or not. I predicted he will be gone once Tanne is up to NFL speed, and he by all means is. Ask me again after playoffs....although ill prob still be meh about it.

Coyle on the other hand...keep him.
 
Judging by how well RT17 has been playing the last 6 weeks and seeing them produce out there and that the team and coaches seem to be learning and developing from game to game would give me hope for next year. As many posters have said, if we did switch to a new OC it could screw with our current offensive cohesiveness and set us back next year vice allowing us to hit a stride during offseason, training camp and hopefully from the start next season!

I've been critical of Sherman just like all of you but would be hesitant after the development we've seen from Clay, Tannehill, Hartline, Gibson, Wallace, Miller heck even Thomas, Egnew, Brenner and Sherman himself. I'd be inclined to keep the continuity atleast one more year to see how the offense improves. With the development from our QB recently i've seen alot more creativity, also adding a much more athletic lineman in Brenner has allowed more creativity in the run game. It's an exciting time to be a Dolphan, we ALL DESERVE IT!

Ok, you've convinced me to give Sherman a bit more faith. It is nice to have a 2 minute drill for the first time in a decade.
 
Interesting blocking stats on screen passes. PFF gives a plus or minus 0.5 to a player for a good or bad screen block. Our guys doing well are surprising. Clay +1.5, Clabo +1.5, Wallace +1.0, Matthews +1.0, Pouncey +1.0, Hartline +0.5, and Gibson +0.5. Miller is the only negative at -0.5.

Anyone know how many screens we actually have this year?
