So i went into this season, even after reading how badly this kid did in training camps, before the regular season started, hoping Pat White was really going to impress. i also didn't know much about him before this season, so i did look up a lot of his highlight videos online, couldn't not like watching him for WVU with slaton (spell? sorry), i guess he was so hyped up at beginning of the year that i just wanted to see what he could do. i wasn't very impressed with the few NFL plays he was in. I found myself scared watching this 6'0 180 lb kid running up the gut, not impressed.

i know pat white had something like 6k+ yards passing in college, and over 4k rushing, but will he cut it for NFL? do we really need him on the dolphins, is there a legitimate role for him here that's also worth paying him for?

I told myself i wouldn't judge him, or Henne, for that matter until that favored 3-year mark. In spite of that, i found myself actually very impressed with Henne at some points during the season. (in a sparano voice haha) I thought he played really well, I really did. I think that's inevitable training underneath Chad Pennington, and having to compete for a backup role with Pat White and Tyler Thigpen. He really stepped up and i would be happy to see this kid start for us (Chad Henne)

I can see where another year of prepping behind someone like Pennington could help Henne, I also understand he gained invaluable experience this year.

So my question, What does everyone want to do with these guys? I think everyone wants (for the most part) Chad Henne to start. Is Pennington coming back to start a possibility? why or why not would we want this? I know A LOT of people wanna see this guy our QB coach, and i've seen the chemistry him and Henne have on the sidelines, i think hes the perfect influence for him.

Do we also keep Pat White and Tyler Thigpen? I've heard a lot of teams are interested in both, more so Thigpen, i guess he would have the higher started value. I guess all 3 have a lot of potential, but who has the most, who does our franchise want to invest in? ALL 3? That i highly doubt but i could be wrong. I guess this whole off season thing is just getting to me it's sooooo suspenseful

Yea, we should give up on a 2nd round pick before his 2nd year in the league. Not. I think everyone knows Pat White's future isn't as a full time QB. whether he'll pan out at another position or as a type of X-Factor on offense is anyone's guess.

IDK if you give up on Pat White yet but if you have to choose between keeping him or Thigpen then bye bye Pat. IMO of course.

:err: I am so sick of the oh lets wait 3 years and if he develops. Do you really still believe Pat White has a chance after the hit he took. He is now damage goods and will not do anything great in the nfl. He is way to small, weigh lighter most then peoples girlfriends, and he will be running scared the whole time. I do not think tony is going to change his role to wr where he might have a chance.

Dont dump him, but needs a position change. We obviously have our guy going forward...and as far as what White brings to the table(running ability, pistol offense, etc), Thigpen just does it better.

If your question is whether Pat White will ever be a quarterback for the Phins, my answer is no. Right now his chances of every being able to quarterback an NFL team are slim to none. I expect them to keep him and try to develop him to to do certain things as we have seen this past season until they get tired, around 2011 or 2012. At that is about it. I have no expectations of Pat White, and when he comes into a game I expect only the worst to happen, a broken play, a turnover, an injury.

Yea because that hit he took (minor concussion) has destroyed his career :rolleyes2:.

I personally believe you keep all "4". The reasoning for this is that you allow yourself to have at your disposal a trusted veteran QB as your security blanket for Henne (the starter) should he go down to injury. This way our season isn't over automatically due to an injury to Henne. We won the AFC East with CP10, so I feel he can save a season, should he have to.

It also allows for Miami to dedicate more time developing Pat White and not just thrust him in, like we had to last year. :boohoo:

Then, by keeping Thigpen, you have a good #3 QB, who also has the ability to play some of that WC QB stuff while Pat White is being developed...or stays as the #3 QB behind Henne and CP10, if the staff sees that Pat White is better as a WR/KR.

I think re-signing CP10 is a no brainer, but also a no brainer is keeping White and Thigpen too.

This will of course, force us to keep only 3 RBs instead of the 4 we kept last year. We kept Brown, Williams, Cobbs, and Hilliard. Then, when Cobbs went down we added Sheets. So we always kept 4 RBs, plus the FB of course. But in the 4 QBs scenario, we'd have to force Cobbs, Hilliard, and Sheets to all play for one RB spot.

Unless, we keep one less OLB/DE and also keep 4 RBs. Because just as CP10 would be a temporary "playoff run" backup QB...Ricky Williams is that to our RB corps. So we need to develop Williams eventual replacement, the same way we need to develop CP10's eventual replacement.

Right now, Pat White is developing as the future #2 QB, while Thigpen will be the #3 QB of the future, and security as 'maybe' future #2 QB, if Pat White moves to WR/KR only.

So Sheets and Hilliard are probably battling it out for the future #2 RB spot, currently manned by Ricky Williams.

Cobbs doesn't look like a #2 RB, so he looks more like a typical #3 RB/STs guy.

If we keep 4 RBs it would be Brown, Williams, (either Sheets/Hilliard), and CObbs. Unless, Cobbs doesn't make it back right from the ACL injury.

Now, if we end up going with Spiller, we only keep 3 RBs and the conversation is over and Hilliard, Cobbs, 'and' Sheets go bye bye. Unless, we still keep Brown, Williams, Spiller, and Cobbs.

if this kid threw for 6000 yards in college i have to believe he can throw the ball to some extent in the NFL, even as a 2nd or 3rd string QB, which isnt a horrible thing to have a pistol running backup QB like pat if he can put everything together, depending on how much he costs. however.

i dont know if i believe this guy will ever get the hang of it. i think we should work with him for one more off season and if there is no progress then cut him. i like thigpen a lot, i think he could definitely be a starter, but i think chad henne is our guy and thigpen definitely wants to start, so if u get offered something worthwhile for him then MAYBE you let him go, but not this year. you wait to see how pats progressions goes, and if it does go well, then next year u trade him, i think sparano knows how important good depth is, and i dont see us getting rid of either of them this year, though i do think next year 1 will be traded. this is all my opinion though.

sorry to bring this topic up anymore i know its been discussed to death, i just hate the idea of paying someone good money for a specific play like wildcat or pistol. especially if u cant even play special teams

i also agree about keeping all 3 and chad pennington, but i like pennington a lot so i am slightly biased. i also am not a big fan of hilliard inspite of the few good games he had at the end of the season. i definitely like cobbs and sheets more. however i know sparano likes hilliar a lot, i dont think hell get rid of him. i see sheets and cobbs having to battle for a spot.

i would also like to see our team reach out for CJ spiller or some other RB who has gone under the radar maybe. i think it would be a good add for our team. i know a lot of people want dez bryant as our #1 but i think getting 1 WR wont completely revamp our team the way people hope it will. weve been a running team for a while i think it works well that way. this is the year we decide if were going to jump on the pass happy offense bandwagon now that our QB position looks hopeful or if we stick to what weve done in the recent past and run the ball like no other and kill our clocks especially on teams like colts saints pats

contradicted myself in saying i have to believe pat white can throw the ball in the NFL followed by saying idk if i believe he will put it all together. i guess thats the reason i started the thread. idk what to believe about him

Pat White is going to be our 2nd QB? :rolleyes2: In a real competition he would not make the top 3 with the QBs we have now.

I'd like to know what teams are slightly interested in him.

For Pat White's sake, he should turn his attention to the baseball field and forget about football. He will NEVER make is as a QB in this league, wildcat or not. Even with a position change, he will never has the size to survive in the NFL. And it's not about height, it's about body type. Yes Darren Sproles is small, but he is solid as a rock. He can take a hit, Pat White cannot. Sorry.

haha about Pat not being able to take a hit. His small frame really hurt him on that helmet to helmet hit he took. I mean if he was bigger his helmet to helmet wouldnt have been nearly as bad. Nice ignorance.

Pat White should by all rights be on punt and kick off returns because he can make plays but he hasnt been used enough to say what he can really do but I will say he cant be any worse then the guys on return duties.

I think Pat White was here to be our number 2 qb is dead on accurate. This regime knows what they want to get out of Pat and I think alot of people here are impatient with his usage...maybe if he completed a pass they wouldnt use that as their excuse to hate em. But the fact is he only attempted 5 passes..rarely did they call a play for him to pass. You know he can pass...check his college highlights...fact is the guy was a rookie...he received some good nfl experience.. cant wait to see what he does this year.

O wow, he could pass in college..................

If you compare his stats to other college QBs you will see that he was not a great college passer.

There is a very simple reason he was only ALLOWED to attempt 5 passes. Our coaching staff realized during preseason that he has serious problems throwing a NFL football and throwing over the LOS (they knew this from the Senior Bowl after using the 10 foot LOS net).

If our coaching staff believed that he could pass at all then he would have been asked to attempt more of them. The game against the Steelers showed that our coaches had almost no faith in his passing. I can't believe that anyone who saw that game thinks he has a future as a NFL QB.

I was mad about the pick then, and I'm mad about it now, esp when we had a chance to draft sintim. And esp since its obvious that we needed an upgrade or two to our defense not some gimmicky offense.
