I'm honestly thinking let him be our head coach if he ends the season 8-8 or better..

If we go 8-8 he should be considered but in reality we should not settle for Dan CAmpbell based on an 8-8 record.
We should hire the best coach possible and do a coaching search to find the right guy. Too bad we have Ross and Tbaum running this goat screw

so if he finishes with a mediocre record, he should be retained?

You expecting better? If any coach can get this steadily sinking ship even close to .500 we should take it. Right now we look like a 4 win team. Btw, if we go 8-8, that means 7-5 with Dan. I'll take that. Especially considering all the obstacles Coach Campbell is going to have to deal with.

Agreed. However, if there is not a very solid candidate out there, I would rather roll with Campbell then get a retread like say... Mangini. Mangini specifically too.

He still need a staff overhaul though. Starting with a certain offensive coordinator.

if we cant get top coach then I would pick cambell. if he is 8-8

If 8-8 means we draft 18th and we don't make the playoffs, then I might want him deported...

Well it all depends on what one means by a top coach. I would take a proven coordinator like Kyle Shanahan over Campbell .

Only way he should just be handed the keys, so to speak, is if he gets the team to the playoffs and wins two of those games. Otherwise it is up for grabs.

If the team plays consistently (the good kind), has no locker-room drama, and if Campbell has a firm grip on his staff and holds them accountable when he has to, I'd be all for keeping the guy for another year. Draft some O-Line, we've got the weapons. Shore up the LB and DB depth and re-do 2015.

I'm almost completely positive Tannenbaum is not even considering Campbell for HC next year. This is his opportunity to hire HIS guy for HIS plan for the team. At 8-8, Campbell only makes the list, but Tbaum is already working behind the scenes for his HC.

Aside from this, has there ever been an interim that stayed on the job the next season?
