:dolphins: First of all we handled the champs quite well for 3 and 1/2 quarters. What I saw was mostly mental mistakes, especially the 87 yard TD. We will improve and everything is fixable.
My thoughts on the loss....
#1 Rusty Duante is by far way better than all the "F" QB's of the past years.
#2 Duante and CC are not in tune, and Duante under threw CC on to many occasions.
#3 Wes Welker continues to impress. But why did we not use him late in the game? He seems to catch everything thrown his way. Hear THAT CC ?
#4 RB starts to roll against Steelers (8 yards followed by 5 yard TD run) and then we shut down the running game, just when he seems to get rolling.
#5 We had many opportunities to put the game away but had mental mistakes instead such as
5a. JT did not contain against Willie Parker on 3rd and 1 and should have thrown him for a loss
5b. Michael Lehan? hands to the face on 3rd and 13 with Batch fairly rattled at the time. They drive the length of the field and though they did not score it gave the Pitt O the confidence they needed at the time.
#6 We need to get RB the ball in more ways especially on screens and such when the o-line is getting stuffed.
#7 We will see tremendous improvement throughout the year especially in the secondary.

Not trying to kill your thread, but potential has to give way to production at some point. Miami just had a glorious chance to start off 1-0 with Ben R out, and they blew it.

Pitts won the superbowl while having Ben have the worst performance of his career. 9/21 with 2 picks.

Nice first post. I think CC got a wake up call regarding his first half performance. He may be a pro bowler but he was non existant in first half beit due to play calling or him not getting open. Welker was superb with his effort.

So what's your point. Ben was out. We blew a coverage, but the pass still needed to be made. Ben couldn't have thrown it any better than Batch did. In fact, he could just as easily have under or overthrown him.

The poster's point was that Ben being out didn't hurt the Steeler's much at all because a. it's a run-first offense with a stifling defense and b. Batch actually played well.

They should consider themselves lucky they got flagged for only 1 penalty. That will never happen the rest of the year.
The Steelers played a near perfect game and still needed some mental breakdowns by Miami to win. They had all the intangibles in their favor and they were still losing with 6 min to play.

the point is you are trying to put a positive spin on something very very negative. Which is fine, all fans do it. But your bias is kind of ridiculous. Pittsburgh beat you without their star QB, imagine what their optimistic threads look like.

Pittsburgh didn't need a QB to win a game vs Miami, and you feel good about that? Miami was that outmatched?
