Glenn Johnson

Only that he was a WR at Indiana University a couple of years back. He's probably a longshot, but ya just never know.

On Monday, the Extreme lost Glenn Johnson, perhaps the team's top threat at wide receiver, for two games while he prepares for a free-agent tryout with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

Johnson's odds of making the Dolphins are long, but not impossible. Two years ago, Fred Jackson jumped from the Sioux City Stampede of UIF to the Buffalo Bills after getting an invitation to a free-agent tryout. Jackson still is listed on the Bills' roster.

Johnson, 26, has the added advantage of trying out in front of new Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, who coached Johnson when the two were at Indiana University together.

"That's a stretch to go from here to the Miami Dolphins," Schmitz said. "But it gives him a shot. I can tell you that the timing is not good for us."

Johnson's tryout is scheduled for April 4. He has decided to not risk injury and sit out Friday night. Travel will prevent Johnson from playing in the April 7 game against Ohio Valley.

Remember Ogunleye he was a free agent too, wasn't he also out of Indiana? Not that this guy would be a success story like Ogun. But you never know?

What does him not being an AFL player has to do with anything?

Maybe he means there is a order of descent if you don't play in the NFL. Not that it's anything official, but alot of players that for some reason or the other leave the NFL go to the CFL as the next best place to play and from there to the Arena League. It's some sort of prestige thing, like not getting accepted for a Ivy League college and settling on a State University instead.

Ogunleye missed his senior year at IU because of a knee injury that's why he wasnt drafted and signed as a FA, he didnt even play his rookie year with Miami because of the injury and still rehabbing.

Ogunleye signed with Miami in 2000 as an undrafted free agent. He spent the first year of his NFL career on the disabled list due to a knee injury suffered during his senior year at Indiana.
Check out his stats for 2000....all zeros.

During the 2005 NFL season, Ogunleye spearheaded the Bear's defensive line by recording ten sacks.

Why didnt we keep him he was worth the money, can you imagine the bookends of Ogunleye & Taylor and the QB sammich's they would be making.
