GM Jeff Ireland talks about pursuit of Peyton Manning and QB's

Philbin will tell Ireland who he wants and it will be Ireland's job to get him.

Let's not get that mixed up. Philbin will get his QB of the future in this draft.

And what if what Philbin wants doesn't sit right with whatever "value" system Ireland has in his mind? If it's as easy as you say, why even bother having Ireland at the draft? Just let Philbin select who he wants in every round. Easy as 1 2 3.

It's very simple, Philbin was brought in because they wanted what he offered when it came to his offensive philosophy.

So Ireland and Philbin will work together to set up a value system and target players they want.

It's not so unfathomable to conceive. The best teams are those where the GMs and HCs work very well together.

And it is as easy as 1 2 3 if Ireland values his job at all.

I am amazed at the ireland haters when everything he did, most did not want.
Flynn, Smith, peyton. So whats a guy to do?

He got Reggie Bush for peanuts.
He got Cam Wake for peanuts.
He got Charles Clay for a 6th rounder
He got Brian Hartline for a 5th
He got Odrick in a trade down for an extra player in Misi who is on pace to be better than most DE in the league who came out at same time.
He got Fasano for a 4th.
He got Matt Moore in FA cheap, which everyone on here poo poo'ed until matt moore poo poo'ed on your overexagerrating doorstep.
He got Vonte Davis.
He got Dansby, Burnett, and the guy from NO who played excellent in replacing Dansby. Our D is still top notch and will be better with full offseason with tons of youth. His draft last year was very good. His draft this year I imagine will be just as good if he follows the value like he has in the past.

I still am glad Ireland is the GM and not some randy friggin mueller!! No friggin Rick Spielman! No friggin whatever loser we had before those guys.

I am expecting we draft a QB. If we dont, then i have a big problem. I dont think we will not draft one. It wont matter what the man does, he will be mr. nasty. whateva! Just keep drafting value please!

You don't think every GM in the league doesn't have a list of players they hit on?

The only good thing of this upcoming mediocre season is that this clown will finally be fired...

Whats sad is we say this at the beginning of every season for a while now. Sparano last year, Henning the year before, Pasquloni before that...

Last year he should have drafted a QB like Dalton or Mallet. All the fans thought we needed one just like this year. His value chart said otherwise.

Kudos for the Bengals for being ahead of us.

Neither are the answer, either.

That wasn't true, peyton manning never said that. Unless it was a sure thing, how stupid would we look trading an explosive offensive player bc a guy "might" come?

We knew he was a head case when we got him, he was still a monster on the field something we needed. Good riddance? I remember you defending Ginn to the death.....lol Now you are happy to get rid of a no doubt top 10 WR in the league? ok...

I wouldn't say defending him to death. I was up for giving him more of a chance once we got Marshall. I said give him a chance when Henne took over the starting job because they showed deep threat chemistry when Henne debuted against the Jets that year. I thought we should have held on to him as a primary kick returner. I felt people needed to get off Ginn's back and drop their personal expectations when judging what he could bring to the team and start seeing him for what he is and not for what he's not.

And yes, good riddance. I felt conflicted cheering for a habitual woman-beater.

And I never said that's why we got rid of Marshall. I'm just saying there's two ways to look at things. Either way I read somewhere it was Philbin who wanted to get him out of here.

Well for one Dalton played damn well for a rookie and Mallet we dont know so you cant say if they are answer or not. I do know Dalton has done one thing that no Qb ireland has drafted has done and that is have a winning season or a pro bowl or hell lead his team to playoffs for that manner

Why do we have 3 losing seasons in a row if GM get so many great players.

Henne 2nd rd
Pat White 2nd rd

Missed out on Dalton and Mallet. More released by 1-14 Panthers team. Gerrard coming off Surgery and losing out to Gabbert.
OL is still pluging holes at RG and RT after 4 years of drafting and FA.
Columbo?
Jason Taylor fiasco.
Gibril Wilson high priced FA
Jake Grove High proced FA
Smiley High priced FA
Merling bust
Misi (wont start this year bust)
Not looking to replace Henne with draft pick (hopefully that changes this year)

Some of the reaons we have losing seasons for the last 3 years.

These statements were pure spin. They wanted to replace Moore, Stevie Wonder could see that but since they failed they are going to spin it, pretty simple.
