Salaries for individual players will be taken from NFLPA.org between now and the start date and are frozen for the entire span of the season. The only way a players salary changes is if he is released and then resigned via free agency.

There is no penalty for cutting a player.

if a player has a cap value of 3 million and you release or trade him, the entire 3 million is subtracted off your cap.

Once a player is traded his entire salary is transferred to the acquiring team.

The salary cap for the 2006GM League will be determined in the near future. You will need to be under this number before the start of free agency and stay under for the remainder.

HOW FREE AGENCY WORKS

All tags and tenders must be submitted by the start of free agency (sometime in march).

The 2006 Franchise/Transition numbers will be determined and posted in the near future.

You must place a tender on all the RFA's and ERFA's you have that you plan to keep. Remember you get right of first refusal to match what they are offered. If you do not, you get compensation based on the tender.

Exclusive Rights (no one else can sign these guys) $300,000
Original Draft Round (match offer or get a pick (original draft round) from bidding

team) $605,000
First round draft pick (match offer or get a first round pick from bidding team)

$1,318,000
First and third round draft picks (match offer or get a first and a third round

pick from bidding team) $1,758,000

To acquire free agents, we will use a bid format here on the league website.

All the bids will be able to be seen as it stands and the highest bid that goes 24 hours without being matched wins.

You cannot cut a player you signed in free agency.

HOW THE DRAFT WILL WORK

The 2006 GM League Draft will be held live at a date and time to be determined. We will do as much of the draft as
we can live. Time limits and such will be discussed the day of the draft.

If you are going to miss your slot leave a bullpen list with someone else
to automatically make your pick.

A bullpen list will look like this.

Minnesota Vikings
1. DE Jamal Reynolds (if he is not available go to pick 2)
2. CB Nate Clements
3. CB Fred Smoot

You get the general idea.

From the second round on the picks will be done as soon as possible in the same format as the first round. If you are not available leave a
bullpen list to choose from.

We most likely will have draft pick salaries this year. Those salaries will be determined in the near future. You will need to keep track of your picks and what they will cost to ensure you do not go over the cap on draft day.

I have a couple questions about the franchise and transition tags. I can only use each once right? And how do they work exactly? If I franchise somebody, nobody else can sign them right? And what happens if I transition tag somebody? Can other teams sign franchised/transition tagged players and give me compensation? Or do we have to work out a trade? Can I franchise/transition and trade someone before FA starts?

Thanks.

You can use your tags once. Those players can be bid on still. Once free agency opens if they haven't received a bid within 24 hours they are yours. The starting bid in free agency is whatever you tagged them. If someone signs your franchise player you get 2 first round picks...which most people don't have. You can agree to another form of compensation, such as a first and two seconds. But if they are going to do that they might as well trade. Basically in 6 or 7 years i've only seen 1 franchise player signed by another team....so you are pretty safe there. Transition players get no compensation if they are signed by another team. You can trade your franchise player/transition player but not until 24 hours into free agency when they are officially signed to the tag. It would really stink if i gave you a first round pick for your transition player then someone signed him away from me.

[mod] No need to use any profanity here. You're free to ask any questions you like. [/mod]

Not trying to be a <removed by mod>, but am I understanding it correctly that there's not really any benefit to the transition tag?

Thanks

There isn't as much benefit to the Transition Tag as there is to the Franchise Tag, which is why it is cheaper. It is a little better than just bidding on them because if the transition tag is 5 mil, The starting bid has to be over 5 mil. Most people are going to go for the cheaper options on the first day of free agency. It will take a few days for the other players to get up that high and by then, the player will be yours. This is because franchise/transition players are only on the market for the first 24 hours of free agency are automatically signed to the team that tagged them if they don't receive a bid. If someone does bid on the player....You have an advantage because you don't have to bid against them. If it's a 5 mil player and they bid 5.5 mil...and that's the only other bid...At the end of the 24 hours you can match the bid with 5.6 mil or something and the other team can't outbid you. If you opt not to match the bid you get no compensation. That's what makes the Franchise player better than the Transition player. But there is some benefit to the Transition player. I hope that helped you.

I got a couple question not regarding tags but just questions in general. First i have two guys on my team that are on the NFLPA.ORG website with a salary but on the FA list they are on there was well. ANdre Davis(MLB) is set to make 800,000 but on the FA list it says UFA. The other player i have is Leigh Bodden who is set to make 1,000,000 but it says RFA. I dont know if to consider them on my team or not, can someone please help???? (I know what UFA and RFA means so dont bother explaining that) another thing is that when do i get to resign the players that were on my team last year. In the NFL teams can sign their own guys that were on the team last year right now b4 other teams have a shot at them, how are we working that???? is every FA going into a pool and then an all out bidding war going down on every player?????

First timer guys sorry,
but anyway thanks so much guys, this is the coolest game i have ever heard of, I think its a great idea and i am so excited to play!

Both received contract extensions prior to our league starting. They are both on your team.

How are the trades being monitored this year?

Are we going to have a group of mods, vote on passing or denying trades again? Or will trades go through once they're made.

In trades, can teams share some of the salaries of a player in question? thanks

All trades go through once they are confirmed....however if we notice something that's a little too out of hand. We could reverse a trade. That's very rare though.

We are still missing 4 teams. How long do they have to post their teams and salaries?
