I'm not sure what the :censored: is going on with GM R. Mueller, but all signs are pointing towards his departure right now. If that's the case, then the very first order of business Wayne needs to address is filling the GM duties. In certain aspects, it's even more important than hiring a new head coach....

Floyd Reese is the man who is available, and who is certainly qualified to replace Mueller. The only problem is that if we wait, Reese will likely be off the market. Wayne needs an answer from Mueller now, and he needs to know what his future intensions are within this franchise.....

If Mueller is not staying, Wayne needs to move fast, and hire someone who will keep us on the right track. Floyd Reese is that man, and I'd hate to see us miss out on him if indeed Mueller is out....

I don't think there is a definitive indication that Mueller is out the door. But, if there was any kind of deal where he was tied to the hip with Saban will then obviously he is soon to be gone. If Wayne H. wants to use this as an opportunity to retool then yeah Mueller could be unemployed soon enough.

Reese did some good things in Nashville. He caught a lot of heat up there when the team's rebuilding did not come along as quickly as Titans would have wanted. But it looks like they turned the corner and Reese has a tract history of drafting strong defensive talent. Remember the Titans (pun intended) defense of late 90's and a few years ago? Those were Reese's players. He was also the GM of a team that had Eddie George, Steve Mc Nair, and Derek Mason. He and the Titans rolled the dice on VY and it may pay off. Looks like the decision to stick by Jeff Fisher through the lean seasons was a good one too.

I would definitly like Floyd Reese if Mueller left. Either he or Scott Pioli are the type of GMs we need. The coach as czar routine (see JJ and Saban) route has not worked in our past. So, why not try the strong, talent evaluator gura, GM czar paired up with a good x's and o's coach who emphasizes discipline and fundamentals as the better way to go.

Is this the same Floyd Reese who over spent on talent with the Titans for some winning seasons and playoff births but effectively ruined a shot at a super bowl when their salary cap crumbled due to the terrible signings and poor negotiations he made?

Who else is qualified to replace Mueller if he leaves??....

I'm willing to listen, does anyone have a better / more qualified candidate??...

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Hes a good scout, but he cant do the #s. i dont think id want him running my franchise.

Personally, I'm not positive about how many GM options we're going to have this off-season. Right now, Reese is the only person that I can think of as a possible replacement. If that changes, and someone else emerges, my opinion will likely change. I'd really like to get Pioli, but that's just....:bong2:

Their cap management was horrible.

Scott Pioli is still out there. He can be gotten without compensation because he's not yet a GM.

If I were Wayne I'd first contact the Chargers to get a feel for what it would take to snag AJ Smith. There's been a power struggle in that organization between him and Schottenheimer. I wouldn't be too hopeful though. He's been the best GM in the league over the last few years and it sounds like the Chargers will let Marty go before Smith. Pioli would be a good 2nd choice.

I'm just so worried about Wayne's handling of things. He doesn't seem to learn his lesson. He values a head coach more than a GM and this team needs a solid GM first then a coach who can work with him. That doesn't seem to be the way that Wayne's going about this hire though. Just read the story below if you haven't. It scares me to death.....

Just thinking that Wayne refuses to learn from history makes me think we may be doing this again within 3 to 4 years. And if he brings in a Carroll or Stoops, it tells me he definitely didn't learn his lesson. I can't believe that Wayne wouldn't try to secure a top notch GM first then find a coach to work with him. But he's said repeatedly that as a CEO, it's all about having one guy be responsible for things. At that first presser, he said as far as splitting duties, "if you're drafted, who is your loyalty to, the guy who hired you or the guy you report to"? So it looks like he wants to avoid power conflicts, hence a coach/GM role for one man.

Let's pray for the best!
