Since we don't play this week, I was looking for which team to root for.

Reason that I want certain teams to win is because of my wanting to select Calvin Johnson in this upcoming draft.

If ARI has the worst record then they won't select CJ because they have Fitzgerald and Boldin already there. They would go Joe Thomas.

So I could tolerate them having a worst pick then us.

I want TEN to win because then that only leaves us with 1 win...and we would pick before them.

Of course, we have 9 more games but at least we'll have some leeway to win some games.

I don't know how we are going to beat CHI though!

41-0 at the half???

We can't block on par with a highschool team and everybody still wants a reciever.:shakeno:

It's not about NEED. It's about VALUE.

If we are picking in the top 3 and Calvin Johnson is there we HAVE to pick him. There is not a single offensive lineman worthy of being picked in the top 5 in my opinion. Joe Thomas is a good player but no one in the draft is on par with Johnson. Passing on him if he is there would be a horrible decision.

The ONLY way we pass on C.J. is if someone offers us a boatload of picks to move back a few spots. Trading the pick is a lot easier said then done.

Drafting strictly for need is a disastrous philosophy.

Cant we just wait until the season is over before we start thinkin about who we are goin to draft. There is still a lot of season left and we dont know where we will be come draft time.

Like you are going to take an offensive lineman if we have a high first round pick? You are joking, right? :sidelol:

Yes, I would, as do many professional talent scouts do every year multiple times over. But I guess you as a mainly heat fan, as taken from your picture, obviously have a better understanding of what is required to be a good football team.

Yea thats the point. We have 4 adequate recievers and 5 god awful linemen.

I can't honestly convince my self that picking a reciever, even if there is no linemen near as talented available, is the right thing to do.

Not to mention that Calvin won't have an instant impact for us. CJ is a slightly taller, much much much less polished version of Larry Fitzgerald. Same tangibles, worse intangibles.

What are you talking about? Just because I have an Alonzo Mourning avatar (since the Heat just won a championship recently) it means I am mostly a Heat fan? Quite the assumption. On the contrary, I am mostly a Dolphin fan. Its not like other people here are also basketball fans in addition to dolphin fans. :shakeno:

Many coaches agree that you pick for value and not for need in the first round, as a previous poster said.

If history is a teacher...neither would a LT. Hagan seems to be contributing in his first year to me.

Ferguson has struggled. Gallery, "oh my God" struggled.

C'mon, bro. Your post is illogical.

Calvin Johnson all the way.

And we don't have 5 awful lineman. We have 3 adequate lineman and 2 under achievers.

no, not at all, actually.

another example of downing a guy just to make a point. if you don't want CJ, that's fine, but don't just make things up about his play to further whatever motive you have.

Dont bother Kat. The guy never saw him play. Obviously he hasnt seen the 6'4 230+ 45 inch vert 4.4 best hands WR in the nation play.
