Yesterday's loss to the undefeated New Orleans Saints hurts. The Dolphins had them on the ropes, down 24-3, before coach Tony Sparano committed what was probably his worst game management mistake as Dolphins head coach. With just 5 seconds remaining before halftime, the Saints were resigned to kicking a field goal. But Sparano was worried that the Dolphins didn't have their best personnel on the field, and decided to call time out. The time out gave the Saints time to regroup, get their offense on the field, and score a one yard TD to close the gap to 24-10. That TD stole the momentum away from the Dolphins, and it was heartbreak city from there.

The Dolphins are a young team, including their head coach. They'll learn from this mess and move on.

If I remember correctly, we were in this EXACT same situation last season. From there, we started to head on our roll of winning, only losing one game along the way.

the thing about this season and last......we are actually competing with the good teams....yes losing is unacceptable but being able to compete with the top teams shows signs of improvement.....we are handling the brutal schedule better than most thought...I think we can still win this.....we don't need a bunch of guys to replace what we got.....we have seen that every player that plays can make plays here or there they just need to be on the same page, stay focused and execute better...

4-4 at the halfway mark would be great and would mean we would be 4-0 in the division. I'm confident we will beat the Jets again, the Pats game scares me. We usually play the Pats well so it's possible.

Problem is the pats are at home and coming off a bye. That game scares me. I think we'll probably split.

So true. Yesterday is done. All this team needs to focus on is the New York Jets, who should be full of themselves once again after beating up on a hapless Raiders team.

I actually think 3-5 would be OK. If the plan for salvaging this season includes splitting with the Pats (sure, a sweep would be great but let's be realistic), then it doesn't really matter which of those two Pats games we win.

The entire second-half schedule looks winnable. I'm ignoring the Pats game, since I'm assuming we'll need to split with them one way or another. I'm also not concerned about the final game with the Steelers, because if we reach that game with any kind of playoff chances, I'd consider it a successful comeback from 2-4, no matter what happens then.

From 3-5, it's possible with our schedule to hope for a 6-1 run, entering the final game at 9-6. We'd probably still miss the playoffs, but you never know.

I don't see getting to 4-4. To be honest, I think we'll lose both but no better than 3-5.

You are probably right about spliting with the Pats, but we need to get the first one in NE, it would help us more mentally and put more pressure on them when they come down here.

If we were 4-4 at midseason, I might streak. To me, 4-4 means still in it and owing to a lot of factors, I'd say that we'd have a reasonable shot at having a very solid second half and competing (although possibly not making) for the playoffs. Not getting there, however, means our season is pretty much a wash.

I'll still enjoy the games either way. After all, even if we make the playoffs, I see very little chance that this roster could get it done.

3-5 would also mean we have a chance to get into the playoffs. A lot can happen. There is a lot of football to be played and I believe in this team.

I will agree we are competing even if we are losing. The opening game with the Falcons could have been much worse. The TOs was what almost made that game a laugher on the scoreboard. Half empty glass approach would be heck we gave it away four times and had no running game vs. a not so terrific D. Half full glass approach is with all the TOs and pressure on Penny our D held its own to make it 17-9 instead of 30something to whatever. We let two get away with Indy and NO.

We are due to play a middling team who screws up and let's go of the hook so to speak. Granted I have not seen a team like the Ravens last year just run over us and stop our running game cold so far. But we can't just let teams off the hook nor hold the ball the majority of the game only to have our pass D blow up. TOP is overrated when we can't execute on O in the red zone or can't stop teams from scoring in the last 5 minutes of the game.

jets pats bucs panthers bills pats jags titans texans and steelers thats the rest of our schedule the way i see it is we can be 8-2 in the games remaining finishing at 10-6 the two games i think we'll lose would be one against the pats and the steelers i have some doubt about the texans since they seem to always have the upper hand on us but i think this is the year we beat them the team as whole have been improving but for some reason the defense cant ever finish what they start i truely believe if some how sparano can motivate our defense a lil more we can def finish 10-6
