Seinfeld barely survived its first season. Cheers, too. If NBC executives had reacted as hysterically as some Dolphins fans, pop culture would have been robbed of The Soup Nazi, The Contest and the "Kelly, Kelly, Kelly" song.

So relax.

Ronnie Brown's debut hasn't rivaled Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced. The inexperienced pro has danced too much and plowed too little, with Nick Saban acknowledging Wednesday that "he can play a lot better," citing a holdout that affected timing and conditioning. Brown conceded that pro players "are a little bit faster" so reads must come faster.

It would be hard to keep pace with the rash conclusions.

Let the rookie grow. He might grow on you as this offense grows around him.
You know what top runners LaDainian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James, Jamal Lewis, Tiki Barber, Fred Taylor, Curtis Martin, Rudi Johnson, Ahman Green and Shaun Alexander averaged over their NFL teams' first two games?

Just 50.9 yards per game.

Stephen Davis, Corey Dillon and Priest Holmes? Inactive for both games.

Ricky Williams? Sixty yards.

So here Brown is, at 46 yards, and he's a bust? Already? Because former Auburn teammate Cadillac Williams is off to a league-leading start, his per-carry jumping from 4.0 to 5.4 on one 71-yard romp?

nicely balanced article. Although its been said a hundred times already, I am a little worried about the few glimpses of natural talent I have seen but only time will tell. in the meantime...GO RONNIE!!!!!

i honestly think some of these writers actually browse and post on finheaven. It seems like after the "ronnie is a bust" threads debacle on here sunday and monday, all the articles in the papers the following day were looking to give RB amnesty.

I love what they are all doing - maybe they'll smack some sense into the senseless fans, but it seems eerily too much like a response to finheaven.

so fess up skolnick, lebatard, others.... what are you FH screennames? :D

Do a search. ;)
LoL.... i highly *doubt* they'd make their name their screenname, right? i mean no player, coach, or writer in their right mind would do that!

Well most of them probably don't register, just read the boards. There's a few writers who have posted from time to time.

well i'll be damned.

good find, byroan. that is a good thread to read.

i bet skolnick was replying to this site. I think that is awesome though. The way communication has transformed society here in the 21st century. A sports writer can reach hundreds of thousands of people in response to a BBS where several hundred were spewing garbage.

Great job skolnick, you get my kudos here. (feel free to post in this thread and "acknowledge" you were just trying to put out fires ;) )

Ethin Skolnik does in fact post here, or he did. He also came to the FH party. I always liked Joe Shad more than most writers, but Skolnic is a distant second.

i didn't realize there was a FH party. ?

Once byroan showed the link, i went and checked out the thread skolnick was engaged in... Some Finheaveners were being complete dicks in the thread, but Skolnick kept his cool and still (IMO) presented the better argument. I guess being able to articulate and having a good education will do that to you? He flat-out owned the Finheaveners in that thread.

Back to the article Numblar linked here.... its a great article that hopefully will sink into the thick skulls of some of the fans here. I think its great that an "objective" sports writer is defending the team from the fans. what a role reversal, eh?

good writeup, i´m stunned this from a local sports writer other than jason cole

I just had a brief e-mail conversation with Skolnick last night, saying he wrote a great article. Told him I was a journalism major and he answered a few of my questions. Very nice guy.

Funny thing though, he mentioned how Nick got rid of all his close contacts (Konrad, Surtain, etc).

so if skolnick would had said something negative, you all would have bashed it but since its a positive article you all praise it...lol
