Good read. I certainly hope his enthusiasm pours over into his playing ability for the Dolphins. We may find this new lease on life for him will give us two excellent QB's. I've been a Dolfan for thirty some years now and since Saban came here last year it has been exciting to say the least. Looking for ward to a great year. Go Fins
That was a good read. The funny part is now Matt Millen basically has to take our offer or lose him for nothing.
I am not crazy about Harrington, but I think he has the tools and COULD be a solid qb. Plenty of other QBs have turned around their careers after leaving the team that drafted him. So here's to hoping!
Whether you like him or not, you have to like how he's handling the situation (for the most part). He has more reason to be bitter and bash the Lions and their management, but instead, he's trying to look forward and prove by action, not words, his true talent. For many reasons (Dolphins do well, most importantly) I hope he does an excellent job the two years he's here!
So what's the final tally? Well, the Lions and Dolphins cleared their plates for quarterbacks this year. The Dolphins now have Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington. The Lions have Jon Kitna and Josh McCown.
Love it!! Miami has definitely come out on top in that deal - Unless Josh McCown suddenly sprouts into an all pro QB. Possible, but unlikely. I suspect Harrington has a better chance to do well in Miami, even as a backup, than Josh has in Detroit.
I think he's probably the best choice out there right now for backup. I would have liked Gus to stay but he didn't so Harrington is probably the most experienced backup they'll find.
Good read. Sounds like Harrington is a class act who is willing to sacrifice a little now in order to have greater oppurtunities in the future. An athlete with a long term view, what a delightful concept!
I think McCown will surprise to the upside. I believe he is a gunslinger and will pile up yardage. It is puzzling why Denny Green never gave him a fair shake. From what I saw, he outplayed Warner and yet Warner kept the job. I believe he had 400 plus yards in a game at least once. McCown may end up being the best qb in that division.
But as far as backup in Miami, I am optimistic about Joey H. I don't think we can do any better, and we are not selling the farm to get him.
