Good Article on "40" times

Finally, someone has put to print what I've been saying...or at least partially....that the NFL 40 times should be viewed/taken with a grain of salt. I still say the shuttle and cone times are more indicative of a players speed and quickness.

I also think poole could become very good but I don't think his 40 time was the only reason he fell. He also had a personal questions in his last year of college that also caused some teams to drop his value.

Like I said though....I'm just happy a reporter finally wrote this stuff down for people to read. I've been saying this stuff for years....at least that 40 times are overrated....but I'm a nobody :) , a columnist writes something and a few more people start to look at it.

How often does a runningback get to run forty straight yards in on play. I M O they should measure time in about 10 yards.

I never understood why a 4 tenths of a second is much difference between players, yet that 4 tenths seems to separate 1st from 2-3 rounds??
