Look some of us love the pick and some hate it. I didn't like it but have come around. Fact is this is the guy who will be running our team so here is some history.

Bit of a nerd and not so good at public speaking it seems however I think he's just what our offense needed.
How he manages the head coaching responsibilities is anybody's guess.

i'm hoping for a seasoned DC so he can work his magic with the offense and know that unit's in good hands.

The Manning video made me very confident this guy can run an offense

As for as being head coach and a leader of men ... we shall see.

I stand by what I said that I won't be impressed until he leads the team to more wins than losses. That being said it helped quite some of worries. Also, thanks to the Manning video, I now know how to say his last name.

Look - they guy is young, he is a first time head coach and he will make some mistakes. To me he is a young Sean Payton who's strength is leading the offence and being a leader but who will need a strong DC to make the equation work. He is signed for 5 years, RT has one year to show what he has if not they will bring in a replacement.

Good article....Manning also said he is the smartest guy hes ever known.

Lombardi, Paul Brown, Bill Walsh all never played pro football....most current NFL head coaches haven't....including Mike Tomlin.

Not going to clog up the forum with multiple posts on the same topic, so I'll say it here.

None of us, not even Gase himself, knows how he'll get on here and whether he'll be successful. We've tried the old school Parsellian blue collar coach (Sparano), we've tried the professional coach from a winning franchise dynasty (Philbin), we've tried the passionate coach with the ear of the lockerroom (Campbell) and the results have all come out more or less the same.

A lot of that is because we didn't have a QB or don't know what we have in our QB. At the least, Gase is near enough the perfect guy to find out what Tannehill is capable of in this crucial year before we get saddled with RT. Also, it would seem he' the first Miami coach since before Wanny who might actually try to play to win and will not be a slave to the particular system he favours.

For that alone, I think he's a interesting candidate. He'll need a very strong DC. We need to invest a ton on the defensive side and whoever is running our 2015 defense will have a lot of retooling to do.

Whether there are better options available or whether he's the best selection we could have made is an impossible question to answer. BUt I think one of our constant gripies on here is our system/style/playcalling doesn't try to get the best out of the roster and this guy is likely to improve us in that regard. It might turn out he's the best test pilot in the business but not a Top Gun. Either way, we should at least try to play the game rather than misdirect and disguise a pretty bland set of intentions with low risk and low reward.

I call him the silent assassin. He doesn’t say much, he just figures out how to beat you.

This is exactly what this team needs. For to long our coaches have been to stubborn to change and Im guessing the players will love a coach who puts them in positions to succeed.

He is Shula like in his desire to run his offense playing to his rosters strengths.....versus being stubborn about running a specific offense.

That bodes well I think for Tannehill and the team.

well if gase plays an offense to his qbs strengths in tannehills case that will revolve around pre snap reads and coverage ids and full audible ability and the qb setting more protections with mike ids

stick with the option route concepts stick with the zone scheme on the oline move players around alignment wise by formation to offset tendencies and get your playmakers off coverage...ie devantae parker who is gonna draw coverage

line him up tight to the formation line him up split use motion with him etc

and for gods sakes use the qb keep sneak on short yardage

Got to find him a quality DC so he can spend all his time working with the offense.

I wish our fan base would realize that NO coach will win without enough talent on the roster. We really need to do well in this draft and FA or Gase doesnt stand a chance. And there will be growing pains along the way, but we realistically are not going to be competitive for 2-3 yrs (and thats if Tanny improves, otherwise longer) anyway so I am ok with that. I'm just happy he is calling plays. My only concern is if he can command the lockerroom. If he is winning it is easy to do, if not time will tell.
