 "Well, if we equated the confrontation, which was about whether a guy was supposed to practice or not  and clearly he was relative to our principles and values in our organization  I probably got on 15,000 guys worse than that and they didn't cry," said Saban, a distant cousin of Bills legendary coach Lou Saban.

Good stuff. Didn't know he was the cousin of a Bills coach. I also didn't know about the player with the sideways hat.

Saban's the bomb!

He has an almost militaristic approach to coaching, but does not take it too far.

Good read. Thanks for the info. I absolutely love the discipline that he is bringing back to our team. It will make them stronger for the long haul.

Good article. I think one of the biggest differences between Saban and some of the other high-profile college coaches who have come into the NFL is that he is so "pro football-oriented", so to speak. He isn't some arrogant guy who thinks his schemes and gimmicks, which worked against inferior competition in college, will work in the pros where the talent is on a more level playing field (Steve Spurrier). Or some guy that just thinks he knows what he's doing, when he doesn't really, at least in the pros (Butch Davis). And then there are the coaches like Dennis Erickson that are just made to be college coaches, who was successful at Miami and Oregon State, and probably will be if/when he goes to another college, but just didn't have the stuff to get it done in the pros at Seattle and San Francisco. Saban is a rare find and I'm really glad he's in Miami.

When I asked if Lou Saban and Nick were related, people laughed at me and said I was wrong. WHERE ARE YOU NOW, SHUCKAZ!@$$#@*%%&*)!@

Lou Saban also coached the Miami Hurricanes before Howard Schnellenberger
