Saw this article today and don't know if anyone here has posted it but its a nice one that will hopefully calm some of your fears. I don't see Cutler being an upgrade but rather an equal to RT with both having their good and bad. In the end I see about as much promise now as I did with RT this year so it's all the same to me. Anyway, here's the good read:

'In 2015, Cutler threw an interception on just 2.3 percent of his throws while throwing 4.4 passes over 20 yards per game, finishing in the top 10 in both categories in the NFL.

Tannehill once again was limited in his vertical passes and was less efficient and productive within the same offense.'

I think the guy makes a point. However, I do think Ryan turned the corner and was going to be even better this year. Cutler hasn't played since last year, there has to be some rust, hopefully things come back quickly. IMO, if he plays within himself and lets our talent around him make plays then we might just be ok. He's saying and doing all the right things. I wasn't exactly thrilled about the signing as I thought he would tear our locker room apart. Guys are rallying around him. It's early, yet, but I am actually starting to get excited about our team again before Ryan reinjured himself.

The reality is RT is out this year and the longer he delays surgery, a good part of next year. That's close to 2+ seasons. The business part of his deal kicks in and if SJ plays well, I could see a scenario where they cut RT, draft a qb early and have Cutler here for the next year or two. We keep hanging our hat on RT's potential. Every year he s expected to take the leap. Then excuse after excuse happens, and now injury after injury. Miami needs to be selfish now. They finally have stability at coaching and in the FO. They have a plan in place, and are developing younger players. I'll let the season play out itself, but it isn't looking good for RT

Tannehill has struggled late in games. Last year, in games that were decided by four points or less, he had arguably his four worst performances of the season. Late in games, Tannehill, on film, hesitates, limits his window to quick reads and is far too susceptible to sacks.

Some of ya'll not gonna like that one huh?

Tannehill and Cutler both got injured roughly around the same time last year. So they both been out of football for roughly the same amount of time.

Tannehill and Cutler have different strengths and weaknesses. While Cutler has superior pocket presence, vertical passing skills and the bazooka arm, Tannehill can be a running threat and is less prone to erratic throws - he is more conservative. It will be really interesting to see how the team performs with the different QB. I am an optimist by nature and live in hope that the Dolphins will be successful but I'm genuinely unsure how things will go. With all the talent on the roster, there is a chance that Cutler can light it up. I am supportive of the decision to recruit him. We are progressively seeing more of the Adam Gase thumbprint on the team. This now means that he has been involved in recruiting Jermon Bushrod (his man in the O-line team room), Julius Thomas (an attack weapon as a vertical threat) and now Cutler as QB. In comparison, Joe Philbin consciously avoided trying to recruit any of the Green Bay players. Gase is not afraid to put his stamp on the team (even with the adversity of the Tannehill injury) and I love it.
