Henne does have a long windup at times, but was accurate on many of his passes in windy conditions. He definitely throws a nice long ball.
Henne also was the victim of a lot of drops. That’s to be expected for a QB working with a bunch of jittery rookies hoping to make a good impression.
-One of them did stand out - Hawaii WR Davone Bess. He didn’t get drafted despite catching 108 passes last season and scoring 41 TDs in his college career. Bess (5-10, 195) is a little small and a tad slow (4.63 in 40), but he catches everything thrown his way.
He made the best catch of the day, a diving grab on a down-and-in route thrown by Henne.
-Jayson Foster also looks like he’s pretty dynamic. But at 5-foot-7, 170 pounds, the former Georgia Southern star is going to have to be something pretty special to make this team.
-No. 1 pick Jake Long is amazingly light on his feet. From a distance, you’d never know this quick, nimble athlete is 6-7, 315 pounds.
-DE Phillip Merling, the first pick of the second round, looked explosive in a pass-rushing drill.

sun sent. said merling was slow n these guys are saying he was explosive. so much for trusting these sources for it all

I think we got something special in Bess, I am pulling for that guy, he sure can catch with good coaching he can be good.

They did say Merling was slow...we going to have to just judge for ourselves.

I was thinking the same thing. I mean one report practically makes him out to be a slouth, than this one calls him explosion, which was it. Being #2 pick I hope it's the second one.

Bess looks like he's going to be a decent WR. I think he makes the team as our slot guy in TC.

Great, great signing by BP and Co.

I agree that the Bess signing was nice. We didn't waste another late round draft pick on a WR that has the same chance as making the roster as Bess and instead got a potential starting FB and potential future NT.

Good to hear but it is only the 1st mini camp. I'm excited to see them in uni but not getting too much hope up yet. I do hope that Bess makes it though:woot:

Every year many many players look great when wearing shorts then when the pads go on and the drills are full contact these minicamp heroes disappear.
