Good Jason Allen article

Hard to be patient with some rookies actually playing pretty well at safety while Allen is a first round special teamer. I think to compare him to Troy is quite a reach, he is a much softer player than Troy ever was. This is not to say he will not be a solid player but when a guys that were drafted lower like Harper and Simpson are doing well it makes it seem like we could have waited on safety and attacked the line.

I would have preferred one of the LB's available. Manny Lawson is starting and getting sacks already. He would have been a great fit as a pass rushing OLB

their respective teams NEED them to start. If Matt Bowen wasn't hurt, Ko Simpson would not have started. I think it does say something for Bell, Tillman, and Hill that allen is behind them. I would like to think the guys who have been in the league a few years are better with their experience then Allen is for right now.

But the man can't cover, and probably never will be able to cover well. Don't get me wrong, i like him a lot. Not a first rounder though. To be a first rounder, you have to be able to merit more then sacks. Lawson will probably end up back at DE by the end of his career.

i woulda loved him at 16

"Allen also will tell you he doesn't hear the critics wondering why the 16th overall pick in the NFL Draft hasn't cruised into a starting role yet. He uses words such as ''patience'' and ''support.'' Words such as ''growing'' and "learning.''
----------------------------------------------

What about "reach", "hold-out", and "punk"???.....

Those are the words that come to mind when I think about J. Allen....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Why did we draft this guy again?

In the fourth quarter of the Pats game, the Bills stopped a third-and-7 situation when rookie safety Donte Whitner recognized a blown assignment before the snap and told rookie linebacker Keith Ellison to cover the tight end instead of blitzing, as he was supposed to do. Ellison covered the tight end - not great but well enough to force an incompletion in the end zone - and the Bills forced a field goal.

"He bailed us out on that one," Fewell said of Whitner.

Well our safeties are not so good that he should not be playing. We have major holes where we need an influx, at worst he should be playing nickelback. Our secondary is not that talented that he cannot play nickel or dime. We had mediocrity all along the line and now are constantly pluggging in garbage scraps because we ignored line in this draft. This team is not so good that we don't need any of our draft picks to contribute.

Actually, I think that says more about Allen. Miami's safeties haven't exactly been stellar so far. Where was the safety help on the two biggest passing plays against the Dolphins so far this year (Heath Miller's "touchdown" and the PI-penalty on Will Allen)?

Not a reach. He may be softer than Troy( too early to determine that), but Troy will never be as fast or as athletic as Allen.

Good point. Some rookies are starting because their teams have no other viable options.

Why are you here again?

That has no relevance to being patient with Allen.Troll.

No relevance?? Man, you werent the fans getting pissed on all offseason because of "what a bad pick Whitner was" and the fact that Miami would never have drafted Whitner over Allen.

Whitner and Allen will forever be compared because of the crap this board gave the Bills for drafting Whitner.

Thats not true in Buffalo. They basically cut Troy Vincent, put him on the minor IR with a slight hamstring inury, because they wanted to get Ko Simpson on the field, too good to sit. Vincent cant come back to the Bills, they have to release him when healthy.

Whitner was brought along slower because he missed 2 weeks of training camp. Juaron is a loyal coach and would never place a rookie over a Vet like Matt Bowen at SS after Whitner held out while his contract was getting done.

Same might go for Allen, but Allen doesnt even play, so I think its more than just a "pay your dues" type of thing, which it was with Whitner.
