In the post practice interview, I was very impressed with Jason Allen. Specifically, I was impressed by the way he created his own version of Dolphins training camp in Atlanta while he was waiting for his contract to be completed. This guy is serious about football. It was obvious that he has the nature of a leader too. He made a HUGE comment about one day leading the defense. I know he has a looooong way to go before leading the defense, but that just shows everyone where his goals are.
So I don't expect any physical problems from Allen unless he gets banged up a bit in practice. His development that needs the most attention is with team chemistry and playbook knowledge. The only way to get that is to do it over a long period of time. So don't expect to see Allen in the game this Saturday. He may get thrown in a couple times when the defense is running something that he already understands. But there is no way he will know enough to start or stay in for long periods of time.
I definitely see him getting lots of action against the Bucs next weekend. I also think he has a good shot at taking the starting job from Hill. It will be close. I am looking forward to watching that competition.
