Who has the best lines in the league? Indy? San Diego? Patriots??

Who has the worst lines in the league? Arizona?? Tenn? Oakland??

How well is E.James doing after leaving Indy's line for Arizona's???

How well is former MVP Kurt Warner doing over in arizona?? How about Vince young in Tenn?

name the top 2 QB in the league. P.Manning and Tom Brady. Top 2 lines? OH DAMN ITS INDY AND N.E. Oh also N.E. brings in some rookie RB who runs for 100+ on 13 carries?? Couldn't be their line could it??

People blaming Daunte or Ronnie are INSANE... if our line was better they would both have insane stats....

answer to miami's woes: reggie bush. he is a god. we should trade our offense for him! i had alot of sugar today, lol

Well OL play has a lot to do with the success of any offense and qb. The examples you give are some obvious ones. But, there are two other elements affecting Daunte. His indecision to get rid of the ball quickly is hurting him. The OL is indirectly the result of it because his decision making may in part be affected by his lack of confidence in the protection upfront. Second, predictable and ineffective play calling by Mularkey.

It all adds up to the kind of offense we have right now. The problem will become more glaring once we play better teams. I am fearful of how the OL will stack up against the Pats this coming game. Their level of play needs to go up two levels for our Offense to have any chance for success

For you Reggie guys, the Patriots got the best running back in this year's draft class. Reggie was great in college and will be a good NFL player. But I really don't think Reggie can run in between the tackles 15 times a game. Maroney was the best player in the draft and I was so upset when the Pats got him.

Sugar + Madden = Bad combination

:goof:

First of all reggie aint all that... lol secondly a completely new o-line would be great not a revamped one completely neqw one from scratch...look o-line runs the game...if we had 10 seconds of protection daunte could do what ever he pleased...If the o-line could protect the run game and make wholes ronnie can pick which ever whole hed like...but thats not realistic im happy with five seconds protection where right now we are at about a 2 and a half...Saban is a good coach but i feel we really need someone with balls to come along and re write the rules.

You think the Pats and the Colts have the two best offensive lines in the NFL? They're alright but they're not even in the top 5. What they both have is the top two QBs

You are partly right.
The OL is a big problem but Daunte is having trouble as well.

If you watch some of the games closely you'll see a number of plays where Daunte has plenty of time and open receivers and he eats it, dumps it off or makes the wrong decision.

I've pointed 2 out that are blatantly obvious from the last game in 3 different threads.

Those blaming only Daunte are wrong but those saying he's played like a champion are just as wrong.

Exactly. The problem of the oline resides primarily with two players. LJ Shelton who shouldnt even be a backup. (How we make him our starter when the Browns, yes the Browns, didnt think he was good enough to start is beyond me) and the revolving guard we have going since Anderson went down (Anderson wasnt that good either). As a QB you should be aware that pressure is going to come from those positions 80% of the time and adjust your game. Daunte has shown a complete lack of awareness of the line's weaknesses, his receivers patterns and a general lack of feel for what's going on in the game. He's as much to blame as the oline, although LJ Shelton gets more blame than any other offensive player IMO

This is a mistake many fans make. In my opinion its the QB 1st, coaching (playcalling) 2nd, followed by the OL.

What you need to understand is that the OL's in front of good QB's, besides maybe the Chiefs before this year, changed all the time. Its not like they have the same 5 guys blocking for them every year, let alone every game. Especially brady and Manning.

Last Year Brady had rookies at LT and LG, he had his best year. Manning has had a couple new people blocking for him almost every year.

OL can help or hurt a RB's play though. If the OL cant block in the run game, it will be shown, but if an OL struggles in the pass game, a good QB can make it seem like the OL is doing their job.

If you can confuse the QB, like the Steelers did Peyton Manning in the playoffs, then all of a sudden it looks like the OL cant block, but in reality, its the QB who isnt making his reads as quick as he was in the past because of the confusion, thus the OL is exposed as being bad.

I can tell you guys right now what Daunte Culpepper's problem is. It's not him, well sorta. Its the fact that Mularkey's offense has so many things to think about.

Lee Evans said that this year JP Losman is being told what to do in every situation, last year with Mularkey he was given so many different options that it would slow down his reads. He said Mularkey would say do this, or do that, or you could do this, or maybe that, and this would be on one play. Now, Losman knows exactly what to do and doesnt have to think as much.

IMHO Hadnot has been more of a disappointment. The switch to center has not worked out. The revolving door is what it is. Injuries have been part in our OL failures but not totally to blame. Also, Mc Intosh this past Sunday was getting manhandled badly. Now that it has been mentioned I am going to make it a point to notice how Shelton peform going forward live and on review of TIVO.

A somewhat positive is that over the past couple of games I've made it a point to notice Carey's performance. He is not doing anythng outstanding but he is not being outright dominated either. As strange as it sound he is being consistently average instead of being consistently inconsistent.

OL is just one of our many offensive problems. The unit as a whole looks flat and confused. But to think that this oline is playing anywhere NEAR decent you are crazy. And as far as importance OL most of the time takes priority over QB. Look at the teams that make the SB.

Pitt vs Sea- AWESOME OL protecting decent QBs
NE vs Phi- Very Good OL with Very good QBs
NE vs Car- AWESOME OL protecting a very good and a decent QB
TB vs Oak- decent OL medicore QB and a OL that played great an aging QB
NE vs Stl- Awesome OL very good QB and a mirage QB
Bal vs NYG- Awesome oline medicore QB very good OL medicore QB

That's why I hadnt included him but you're right he's completely out of position. I like him as a guard but as a center he's a bust. Next year we have to get a center and a LOT
