Coaching them up
If you've already grown weary of our infatuation with Nick Saban's coaching ability, well, you might want to stop reading right here. Still with us? OK then, same song, just a different (and redundant) verse. Which, we guess, makes it a chorus, right? The guy can coach. We said it after watching him in a June minicamp, repeated it in July at training camp, offered it as a refrain after the Miami upset of Denver in the opening week of the season, and might just remind everyone of it with each Dolphins victory.

it continues from there...

Yeah, I've been knowing how good he was for 5 years and being a LSU and Dolphin fan I can at least stay happy for one team. After watching the second half debacle in the LSU and Tennessee game, I sorely miss Saban in Tiger stadium.

I've witnessed a many football games, baseball games and basketball games in my life time. I can honestly say he is the best all around coach I've ever seen. When you talk about being prepared, making in game and half time adjustments, motivation and hard nosed, he is unmatched. His ability to orchestrate a game plan that works is unbelievable, but the great thing about him, is if it's not working his ability to adjust on the spot is incredible.

I'm still sticking to my 8-8 prediction only due to the fact that this is the first year and the secondary is fairly weak. Saban's defensive system takes a long time to learn, so there will be some blown coverages basically due to messing up an assignment. As a fan, you'll wonder what the hell kinda defense was that, when actually it was someone blowing the call. He will never single out a player that missed the assignment, he'll usually take the blame.

If you are happy about the defense this year - boy, you guy's are going to be some excited next year and the next and the next. I know there is talent on the Dolphins defense but once the fins get the db's Saban want in there, we will start talking about the Lombardi Trophy.

I'm in mourning over the 2nd half break down last night in the LSU game, now I have to wait through a bye week to see the Dolphins -- heck, hope my boss doesn't come fire me today.

I was very impressed with the LSU defense in the championship game (The only Saban game I ever watched). Hard hitting, excellent scheme and completely shut down an oklahoma team that was more physically talented. Very impressed.

Great Read. Pasquerelli, Peter King, and a couple other guys have been jocking Nick since the day Miami hired him. It feels so good not only to have a coach who's as well thought of as Nick, but that backs up their opinion by going out and winning games that people think we shouldn't. I think most of the so called "Experts" on ESPN and all know that we'll be a good football team, I just don't think they thought it would be so soon. I think they are still skeptical, but hell, that's fine with me, let's keep proving them wrong. It feels good to read about the victories and not be lumped in with Nolan and Crenel as teams who were "competitive" but just couldn't pull out the victory. At this point, we're doing more than being competitive, we're winning, and that's a direct reflection of Coach Saban, this Staff, and the players buying into the system, the atmosphere, and executing. Sure we may only go 8-8 this season, but we've seen the future of this team and organization, and it's surely a bright one.

Wow, very well said. That's very encouraging to read. ;)

Interesting tidbit toward the bottom of that article:

"Free safety Lance Schulters, signed by Miami as a free agent just before the start of the season, has two interceptions in three games. In his previous 22 starts, coming into the year, he had no pickoffs."
