Maybe it just me but it seems like our team is much stronger than in years past.

I say this because quality of our reserves is better.

Our second team line allowed no sacks with only 2 penalties against Dallas while the second team D held them to a field goal .

Among the cuts were some very talented players. Some of whom were picked up right away ..... Usually it's us going after other teams talent.

Almost every position is two deep with skilled players.

Point being the bottom of our roster is better and that's a good sign.

I think it is just you. At least I don't agree.
New England game will tell us a lot about our team, and I really think it will tell us that we can't run, we can't protect the QB, and we can't compete with top teams. I expect a lot of angry fans on tuesday, but deep inside of me I just hope I am wrong, I really hope it.

problem is our first team oline has given upo quite a few sacks. The line is not deep at all, Te is not deep, RB is not deep, qb is definately not deep
 
thats what usually happens by year 4 of any regime...the depth is greatly improved...i think we're putting an awful lot of pressure on some young kids in the 2 deep especially at cb...carroll and jimmy wilson should something happen to vontae or sean smith are just pups...there's usually some growing pains and teams usually attack the hell out of pups when they get run...i imagine if they play it won't be any different....we'll see how up to the challenge they are

and our oline depth...well i'd rather not talk about it...we're razor thin at tackle...i shudder to think what would happen if jake long missed any time at all...and colombo...thats a disaster waiting to happen once teams start attacking individuals which will commense in a little over a week for us

and at running back we have no depth...reggie bush career tells you he'll get hurt...daniel thomas runs upright which pretty much guarantees you he's gonna take big shots and hilliards got no wiggle whatsoever...
 
I think I kinda agree with what you are saying, just from a slightly different angle. If you are saying there isn't a big drop off between our starters and our backups then I have to agree with you. The problem is, it's not that our backups are nealy as good as our starters, it's our starter are not much better than backups. It's kinda like when a coach comes out and says "we have two really good qbs and they will battle it out to see who starts". What he really means is "we don't have a starter".
 
This first week will tell us a lot, especially if we made the right moves in the secondary. I was upset that we dumped Will Allen, and kept Culver. Don't get me wrong I like Culver but he is a special teamer. Allen showed some promise the last preseason game verse guys who got cut anyways so you never know. I hope Sapp can get the job done though. I hope they cut Allen, to wait after week 1 to sign him. Anyways, here's to an awesome first game. If we beat the Pats, we finally will get publicity and we will shock a bunch of people on national tv.
 
Yes the bottom of our roster is much better than it was 3-4 years ago. The same can also be said about the top of it too. Just think guys. Four years ago every team on our schedule could pretty much pencil us in as a win. Now they can't do that. Win or lose they are all going to know they have played against a pretty solid physical team.

I think people worry too damn much just enjoy the game win or lose.

I'm not worried abou the "pups" at CB. Rookies start at CB all over the league each year. We had two start 2 years ago. Wasnt that big of a deal, and I like Sapp, Caroll and Wilson, and more than that, I REALLY trust our DC. Gameplan can hide a newbie at CB.

Our O-line is in really bad shape. We are still lacking 2 starters as it is, and Berger is the only one that we have coming off the bench.

Agree about RB, but the good news is there are always decent RB's to pick up if needed.
 
Optimism (or at least hopefulness) abounds for fans of all 32 teams in week one; even the lowliest of the low. This certainly includes myself and my view of the Dolphins. But I must say I am leary this point of the O-line. Henne will need to be protected and holes opened up for the running backs if this offense is to succeed. Yes, Henne, too, is a ?. But I think his chances of succes are based not only his improvement, but that of the O-line as well.
 
I think our team has the same issues as a lot of other teams, especially regarding the oline. There seems to be a shortage of quality players that have the physical talent for today's game. They have to be strong as an ox, yet be able to run decently quick, and have great flexibility to handle pass blocking. All of this from a guy that is 6'5" 300-330 lbs.
We have some good players with potential in the PS wings like Chisolm and Jones. Hopefully we will avoid serious injury on the oline, because it will make or break this season. To have the kind of depth that the dline enjoys, it is going to take another couple of years unless we make some trades. In the short term, Colombo will continue to be exposed. I think Carey will return to RT because we will have no other choice.
The RB situation is kind of hard to tell at this point. I think we will be passing the ball A LOT more than most think. We will be passing to set up the run. I this scenario, Thomas, Bush, and Hilliard can be effective. Where we might struggle is in obvious short yardage situations at goal lines or 3rd and short. Hopefully Clay/Hilliard can get the job done. Maybe we should let Solai run the ball on 3rd and short? He could move the pile ala the fridge when he gets up a head of steam! LOL
