Good Teams Build Through the Draft

While I agree building thru the draft is the way to build a franchise....it also takes building thru the draft from other teams. You have to know the players you really like from past drafts that you had no chance on acquiring...but now can thru free agency...they don't always have to be stars...but they have to blue collar types that fit your team.

Well it's been a miserable decade of Dolphins football for me until last season. 2000 and 2001 were the worst drafts in our franchise history

'good teams build through the draft'? that's a cutting edge theory which should be exhaustively investigated by every nfl team asap. next week: 'why eddie moore is not the face of the franchise'.

I think two things have killed this franchise from about 1998 onward.....horrible draft picks and constant coaching turnover. We had Shula here from 1970 to 1995 and then we had JJ, Bates, Wanny, Saban, Cam, did I forget anybody? I think Sparano looks like a coach who will be here for the long haul, and hopefully Parcells and Ireland will also be here for a while. When you look at the two teams that have had the most success the past ten years (Steelers and Pats) they have had a great deal of stability among their coaching staff and they draft smart, and fill in the other pieces through free agency or trades.

Point well made Fishy Pete!

Similar to a something I posted awhile ago. Great job and I agree totally as for building through the draft.
