good time to revisit this redskin 2012 pre-draft re Tannehill...

Wow. So much fail.

or take Alabama running back Trent Richardson. At least he would make the rushing offense more threatening to setup the passing game. Plus, Richardson is a dual-threat guy who also knows how to pass block quite well.

It does go to show that the draft really can be a crap shoot.

i like the part about how they need someone durable and consistent at qb due to their weak line, so yeah, lets trade up for RGIII and stay away from that big wuestion mark tannehill.

also appears this guy thought tanny was an actual WR that converted to QB.

I was about to comment on that. So much misinformation. He says Tannehill came in as a WR and then switched to QB...what a dumb fool. The whole article is full of failure...starting with the web address of bleacherreport.com.

Bleacher reports lead draft guru called tannehill the worst pick in the draft that year

ok, I'll go ahead and start WW3. Other than the fact that Ryan was a QB coming out of HS and not a WR the author made a lot of points that were not that far from what a lot of people were thinking at the time. Sure we have the advantage of time to see the way things turned out but back then there were a lot of people around here saying similar things.

Let's give the guy his due, Ryan was certainly a high risk pick. The one thing Ryan had in his favor is his work ethic, but he wouldn't have been the first with a great work ethic that couldn't turn it into a great career in the NFL. And before we fall over laughing at this guy we might want to remember that Ryan has yet to exceed .500 in his W/L record. While I believe Ryan is our future there is a reasonable chance that he wouldn't have been as successful with the Redskins under Snyder.

I think we won when we drafted Ryan, but I also think Ryan won when we drafted him. He has been handled very well and has not been put in a lot of situations where he has had to carry the team. While it's true he hasn't had the best weapons or OL, he hasn't been asked to win superbowls or get out of town. The fan base has been patient while he comes into his own IMO.

I will be the first to admit I thought Richardson would be a great NFL running back. I played high school football with Emmitt Smith (Escambia High, P'Cola Fl) and Trent broke a few of Emmitts records there. The guy is a work out nut and I personally think he over did it which cost him a lot of speed and mobility!

Well, one team's epic failure, is another team's hopefully highly probable soon to be SB winning franchise QB.

1. Ryan was not a WR turned QB, he was a QB that played receiver for the benefit and well being of his team.

2. Ryan was asked to become a WR, he did so, but never ever thought himself other then a QB, as proven with him being in on QB meeting as well as WR meetings.

3. After not playing QB for all of his College career, he gets the chance, and not only does he not soil himself, he has one of the top 2nd halfs of most of the QBs in college.

4. In 1 1/2 years at QB in College, he managed...484/774...62.5%...5,450yards...42 TDs...21 INTs

5. He was pre-med, which tells you there are brains on that 6'4 220 pound body.

6. Tannehill, unlike the other premium QBs coming out, had no real offensive weapons to help him look better.

7. Because Tannehill played WR, he was also athletic enough to move around in the pocket, or take off if given the chance.

8. He was on a team with a horrible o-line, took huge amounts of hits, and continued to get up without a moments protest.

* So basically what we have is a kid that showed to be a quick study (coming in at a moments notice, and not just competing, but succeeding)

* Showed huge determination to get what he wanted by continuing to go to QB meetings, even though he had to worry about the receiver Position 1st, and his academics was pre-med.

* Proved to be a team player when he accepted playing another position, even though it was not the position he was signed to play or wanted to play, just to help his team.

*Proved to be tough, when he played on a team that had no O-line to protect him, took some big hits, and just continued to get up, never blinking or showing signs of being shellshocked.

* Proved to be resourceful, when he succeeded with little time to learn the position, with few if any weapons to help him out.

Yea, how the heck was anyone ever going to think Ryan Tannehill could ever succeed in the NFL.

Since when did A&M have an awful OL? Wasn't Luke Joeckel drafted like second overall the year after Tannehill came out? Weren't there some other highly drafted players on that line? Am I just imagining that?

Not to mention Jake Matthews lol

He had a better college line than he has ever had in Miami

L. Joeckel 2nd overall in 2013. J. Matthews 6th overall in 2014. Yeah, A&M did not have a bad offensive line. Sorry, chief.
