How I am very happy to see that Bell, Crowder, and Carey have been offered contracts to remain in the Phin's uni, I am a little concerned that the FO might let Goodman walk though...

I don't feel that Goodman is in the 1st level of priority to resign from our free agent pool this season to be honest...So his not being offered as of yet is no reason to become alarmed...

I am on record in the past as "hating" Goodman as a player, he killed us in the 1-15 season and started with much of the same this past year...As the season unfolded though, there was a definite shift in CB performance from Will Allen being our best "cover corner" to Andre taking the lead in that role.

In fact, I think that Goodman is the CB that I would keep in the lineup and look to draft/sign via free agency a bonafide #1 CB...Allen's coverage in the Playoff game was very suspect and I would like to see some other options at his position this upcoming season.

I agree that we need to get Carey, Bell, and Crowder locked up as soon as possible, but the minute that we do, attention should be turned to Goodman and making the necessary strides to keep him in the loop at our #2 CB spot...

Go Phins!

IMO this is the Goodman situation.

Goodman played very solid in the second half of the year. Not to mention at point he was placed on team's #1 WR instead of Will Allen.

If Goodman is resigned, it will be as a starting corner. He will be asking for a decent amount of money, especially too much to pay a nickel CB. If he walks, definately look for us to address this ealry in the draft or through FA. We will definately have to pay a FA more then Goodman, but they also may preform more consistently. A $/talent tradeoff.
If he stays, it means we have our top 2 CB set for next year. He will not just be a nickel. We probably will then take a flyer on a late round pick or a middle-low tier FA.

Resigning Goodman is very important in my liste of priorities for the fins. I hope it happens.

I have faith in the Trifecta that they know how to play the cat and mouse game, I just hope it works out.

It won't matter who our corners are if we don't improve our pass rush on a consistent basis.
We need to get better in terms of getting after the QB, we need to get younger in the secondary and in the trenches, and we desperately need a playmaking FS. Keeping Goodman would not upset me so long as he comes relatively cheap. He's not exactly a spring chicken either.

Call me crazy, but I do not consider Goodman anything more than a solid #3 CB. If he's our #2 CB again, then I think we're gonna have another inconsistent year against the pass.

Your Crazy:lol:, Ok you asked for it. Other threads I have posted my oppinion on why I think Goodman is better then he gets credit for.
IMO, He is the best CB we have right now, and would benefit from having him a few more years.

I def. garwith the pass rushing comnt. Thats why i think we need get better pass rushing as opposed to the secondary because our secondary did play alot better than we and alot others think and keping allen and goodman around with bell obviously keps soem consitency back there and will allow guys to know who they areplaying with which is important.

I played D for my high school team and when they brough t it new players (albeit more athltic ones) to mix with the old it was kinda confusing at times because we were used to playing together and despite more talent back there it was actually less successful. We all new how the other reactd and it allowed us to function better

I'm all for keeping Goodman and Allen to be the number 2/number 3 corner.

But what about the number 1?

with the way Goodman played towards the middle to end of season, i would bring some one in to beat him out. I wouldnt just give away his starting position he has earned that much. I used to count the days till he was gone but Goodman earned alot of respect from me and i hope we could keep im as a number 2 for the time being or a nickle.

We need to keep GOODY. A bird in hand is better than ten in a bush. He was a monster by the end of the year

It all depends on what Goodman wants. Personally I am fine with looking at another corner. He was very good in the second half and awful in the first half. He has never delivered a good full season in his mostly backup career and is over 30. Would much rather bring in Mcfadden as a starter. If he wants 2 million a year come on down goodman but for more lets find a longterm guy.

agreed but the db's are mostly over 30
Parcells & Co. will go to the draft to infuse youth

If Goodman comes for a decent price than keep him but if not they are 2 very good DBS available in free agency in Dunta Robinson or Bryant Mcfadden.
