At this point and time I think that we could make a better trade using L. Gordon rather than R. Williams. Here is my reasoning for this.

- Gordon is healthy and rested, coming off the shoulder injury, and missing most of last season.

- Ricky is healthy and rested but has not played, practiced or thought about football in 20 months.

- Ricky is 20 pounds lighter then the last lime he played. (we have yet to see whether this will be an advantage or disadvantage)

- Gordon is not a habitual offender of the NFL’s drug policy.

- For two years Ricky will be dirt-cheap. Close the league minimum.

- If R. Williams is back, we will have two studs at RB even without L. Gordon.

- We need another dominant player in the secondary and the D line.

agreed mif we could get a DB or CB for him I'll go for it in a second

Gordon looks like an NFL player, yet once in the backfield, he seems timid...I wouldn't give up a thing for this guy, it seems like he just goes through the motions.

I think Gordon is a better candidate for the "So You Think You Can Dance" reality show on FOX. I doubt anyone gives us anything even near what we paid for him.

You forgot the part about Gordon having about 1/3 of the natural talent of Ricky.
Or that he cannot seem to stay healthy.

we can't trade willams he has no trade value

he will miss 1st 4 games then have one game to prove himself worthy before the trade deadline....

get serious

we need him , we need all the weapons we can get.

I'm by no means a Ricky fan but if I were looking to trade for him or Gordon, i'd take Ricky. He has the potential to be an excellent rb while (imo) Gordon has been a bit of a letdown. He doesn't have enough burst and seems to hesistate too much which you can't do with the way this o-line has been playing. To be honest, I wouldn't want either rb if I was a gm seeking a trade.

well...when is the trading deadline?

I believe Ricky will have the chance to play in 2 games before the trading deadline.

Here's what may happen...if a really good/decent team has a chance to make a run to the playoffs and their starting running back goes down to a serious injury...that's when the Fins organization may make the move...to unload Ricky. He's worth will depend on how he's played (sucks that it will be in only 1 or 2 regular season games)...what type of shape he's in...how desparate the team may be in acquiring Ricky...and what the Fins consider fair value.

Go Fins!!!

I think Gordon has more value based on Ricky's actions last year. Personally I'd love to unload Gordon for something near the value we gave for him, but until he performs it seems unlikely. I hope we work him this preseason and he impresses someone willing to start the bidding.

Two games doesn't allow him to do much. Even if he performs amazingly for two games, is he really all that consistant?

Trading deadline is week 6. Ricky doesn't come back until week 5.

How about these trades?

RB Lamar Gordon for CB Derrick Strait or CB Ricardo Colclough.

Derrick Strait:
Instinctive, shut-down cornerback with both the physical and mental skills to immediately succeed at the next level. Displays a terrific backpedal off the line, can flip his hips and loses nothing in transition. Quick to locate the action and displays a great sense of timing. Tracks the deep pass and positions himself to defend the throw. Good ball skills and constantly around the action. Stays with opponents out from their breaks. Adjusts for the interception and shows good hands for the pick. Displays solid wherewithal and competes for the ball.

Ricardo C.:
Outstanding athlete with terrific size-speed numbers for the next level. Technically sound defensive back that gets off the line with a smooth backpedal and loses nothing in transition. Plays with a good degree of explosion, quickly breaks on the throw and flashes onto the scene making the play. Displays good reaction to the ball and gets vertical defending the pass. Outstanding range as well as closing speed. Aggressive run defender that wraps up ball carriers. Displays tremendous speed as a returner with the ability to run to daylight if given open space.

I think we could get Strait b. the Jets just drafted Justin Miller, lost LaMont Jordan, and are looking for someone to back up Curtis Martin.

Colcolugh could be an idea b/ Staley is hurt, and Bettis isint getting any younger.

yes...i know what you mean.

but...like i said...it all depends on how desparate the other team is...even though 2 games isn't much to show his consistency...remember he had mad skills...he was the leading rusher his 1st season in Miami 2002...that wasn't too long ago. He can play...and its only a matter of time until he gets it all back...that can't be taken away from him and he's still young.

Go Fins!!!
