25) Vontae Davis- IMO a very good pick i know he has knock on him but every player does. Played on a bad team last year so may have hurt himself by not playing hard for them. But when he played on a good team he was a lock down guy. Great athlete and will be a lock down guy sooner than later and will be on the field fast

44) Pat White- (*&^%^*$&^$&*%$ was my first reaction like most of you. BUT the i looked at it like an objective football fan. This guy is a TREMENDOUS athlete and though has little experience with some things he can play punt returner kick returner and has great field vision. Can Qb in wildcat and can run a few plays at QB if need be....WR and rb i think he is more versatile than Percey Harvin THATS RIGHT I SAID IT.......but prob the most vesicle guy in the draft and will pay dividends very quickly this guy should have his own chapter in the playbook

61) Sean Smith- Again tremendous athlete BIG fast and while i think still raw as a DB great instincts and skills. Again versatile safety and Corner which makes us DEEP...we have guys that can play several spots and play them well.

I think we got 3 of the best ATHLETES in the entire draft. Just all of them have freakish ability. Two guys who can play and boost our secondary very quickly and a guy who can play several positions on out O and is a truly great weapon. I am very happy so far i dont know about you but we needed to get an offensive weapon and fix our secondary and we did both. And dont say Pat White isnt a weapon cause all he has done is tear up good defense after good defense year after year he is a weapon just get the ball to him and watch him go.

I dont have a grade but i will say they have done very very well so far...3 great athletes that all give us things we need.

Thoughts....constructive please bashing is for the depths

I give it a B-. The more i read on Vontae Davis the more I like him. Pat White is an explosive player and a winner and i like the pick. Hes gonna take the wildcat to the next level and will help us win. Sean Smith is a good player and can play some nickle corner and some safety. like the draft so far.

I like both corner picks. Hopefully we got the next (bigger/physical) Surtain/Madison duo. :err:

I don't know what to think about Pat White. Did we draft him to play WR or what? I heard he wants to play QB. The only thing I can figure is we plan to keep emphasising the wildcat and want to use him in it.

B-

I like both Davis / Smith selections, we were in desperate need there. I'm on the fence with the selection of White however. I don't think he made much sense at #44....

B

IN TUNA WE TRUST....

B- at best because of the White pick.

However, I do like the fact we picked up 2 CBs to strengthen our secondary.

I'll give it a solid B for right now. That said, this has the potential to be just as good as our first three picks from 2008 were. Long was a homerun, and Merling and Henne should both be very solid contributors, if not starters, at some point in 2009; certainly both starting by 2010.

Vontae Davis probably starts from day one opposite Will Allen, and if he can keep his head on his shoulders, he's only 20 after all, this might be another homerun.

Pat White is the wild-card, but effectively, if we can get a Wildcat player, 3rd QB, WR, and return-man out of one player, that's damn good. There's also the chance we get Isiah Stanback out of Pat White as well, which isn't good at all. The first day grade hinges on him.

Sean Smith was my favorite pick of the day. Excellent value. Boomer's been raving about him for a few months now, and he can play both CB and S, and might even get you something as a WR (he was a RB originally at Utah, played WR, then shifted to defense), and again, there's that "position flexibility" again.

So, first day, I'll give it a B, but it has the potential to be an A. Effectively, I think we've got our two starting CB's for 2010 and beyond, with Davis an immediate starter, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Smith starting at some point this year as well. For all we rave about Will Allen, I read in KC Joyner's blog that Miami allowed more passing yards to the left side of their defense (Will Allen's side) than any team in the NFL did last year. That might be attributed to him playing one-on-one a great deal, but no we have two guys that can matchup with the Randy Moss, T.O., Lee Evans, etc. of the divison and not have to mask our deficiencies with the likes of Jason Allen and Joey Thomas vs. bigger WR's.

If we add an OLB, NT, and a WR on Day 2, I'd consider this draft a major success. Kudos to Ireland, Sparano, and Parcells.

at first i was confused on the pat white pick. but once you look at what he can bring to the offence it looks like a great 2nd round pick. the wildcat will look totally different with a player like white taking the snaps. if thats what they are thinking in picking White.

D

I am so sick of giving away second round picks for Qb's. I don't care if has 3 arms. but if he can only line up sometimes(which unless we start running the wildcat +20 times a game) he shouldnt recieve a high second round pick.

Chad Henne got a later round pick than Pat White.

With a team with obvious needs, this pick was a complete waste

well,I always like to wait and see how they turn out but here's my 2 cents

Davis can be a great corner or he could be a wasted pick...he has the talent for sure...if he plays up to it we've found our #1 Corner.

White...wtf? was my first,2nd and 3rd reaction.....he's not an NFL QB...he's never play WR and is not very fast for an NFL reciever.....the one thing he can do is help with the wildcat....I'm not a fan of drafting guys in round 2 that will not play much....I am not sold on this pick yet...I might change my mind and hope he proves me wrong.

Smith-Great size and talent but is he a tweener?....I think he could make a better safety than corner but we don't need a safety....I think he'll be our nicklel back at first...overall,we needed help at corner and we went there....I still think we need a big WR,a pass rusher and a NT....also we could see another o-lineman and keep on mind that all the guards are still there.

Ozzy rules!!

a- i like both picks at corner, we needed youth and talent at corner and we got it, my only concern is olb pass rushers, but im ok...if you want to know what i think of pat white read my thread in the draft forum...i think pat white is going to start a new trend and new style in the nfl, and im absolutely stoked that we got him

Love Vontae. He really doesn't have character concerns, he's just really ****y. If he is willing to work, he can be a top notch CB. He's not small, he's fast, and he can hit. You also have to love his swagger, when asked about his expectations for his rookie year he said "win defensive player of the year".

If we drafted Pat White with the 2nd pick in round 2, or in round 3, I'd have been a bit more behind it. He can be another wrinkle in the wildcat, and he can develop into a taller, faster, Antwan Randel El circa Steelers for us, but there were players available that I liked better personally.

Loved the Sean Smith pick. I was one of the many people on the board in love with Smith. Still a bit raw, but the coaching staff loves him. If he continues to grow into the position we have Surtain/Madison 2.0 with him and Vontae.

I give day 1 a solid B just because I'm iffy on Pat White. I know Mayock is really high on Patty, but I'm kind of meh.
