This is an extension of a VG discussion on the other RT thread, where we look at how PFF has graded based on what they saw play by play, and the NFL QB rating based on overall team stats from the QB's play. They differ on Tannehill more than any other QB for last year. Here's a look at game by game.

Cleve- PFF grade +0.8, NFL QB rating 82.3

Indy- PFF +4, NFL 107.4

Atl- PFF +2.9, NFL 94.5

NO- PFF -0.6, NFL 57.9

Blt- PFF 4.7, NFL 86.1

Buff- PFF -1.0, NFL 71.2

NE- PFF +.6, NFL 60.8

Cinci- PFF +2.3,NFL 9.6

TB- PFF +3.8, NFL 84.3

SD- PFF -1.1, NFL 84

Car- PFF +1.1, NFL 86.4

Jets- PFF +1.7, NFL 94.2

Pitt- PFF -1.4, NFL 95.5

NE- PFF +3.9, NFL 120.6

Buff- PFF -1.3, NFL 45.6

Jets- PFF -0.6, NFL 42.1

Some games are about the same by both PFF and NFL, others differ some, and others differ a lot. Which games do you agree or disagree with, and why are two different on others?

Haven't looked closely enough to disagree with any but the few that jump out as interesting are Balt, TB, and Pitt.

I have those games marked as well. Gonna have to give them a closer look.

I took a closer look at the Pitt game. RT had 2 runs for 56 yards, which were included in NFL, and would add a +1.6 with PFF, bringing him to a +0.3 overall. He was 20 of 33 for 200 yards but with 3 TDs. and 1 pick. However, Clay had a great game catching 7 of 8 for 97 yards and 2 TD's. He also caused 6 missed tackles in that game, and 46 of his yards were after contact.

I'm guessing that PFF gave a lot of credit to Clay, and if you take away he YAC,s from RT, he only threw for 154 yards, Can't recall if the TD's were on the YAC's but, NFL would include the yardage regardless of how it happened as well as the TD's.

Kinda like the great play Clay made on the screen for a first down vs the Pats. It was all him.

plus that 1 pick was for a TD which changed that game and on the GW TD drive he handed off for a near 60 yd run then dumped off to clay who made 5 guys miss on his way to the EZ.

Pff probably knows the qb was not the issue in the buffalo game

come on, you should know by now. if Miami wins, it's because of the great weapons and the defense. if Miami loses, it's because of tannehill alone. get with the times, man.

What world do people live in where you'd take away rac yardage when rating a qbs play...does the qb not get credit for making the proper read and placing the ball timely and in a position where the pass catcher could create rac yardage?

Rac especially for a team that lacks tackle breakers an open field make you miss like Miami does is highly about placement of the ball and timing...

would love to see brady's rating would be, if you took away the yac from his WR's and TE's. dude would average 5yds a pass.

Does the QB also get credit for RAC when he throws a poor pass to the wrong receiver, who just happens to break a few tackles?

A bubble screen taken 40 yards for a TD is not the same thing as a pass that travels 40 yards in the air. I'm pretty sure that it would be difficult to get a rating other than average for completing a bubble screen whereas a 40 strike into the end zone would likely rate pretty positive.

IMO, both ways of looking at the plays have validity.
