Seahawks | Wistrom released

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks have released DE Grant Wistrom.

It'd be great to sign him. Roth, Holliday and Wistrom on D-line. Taylor, Crowder, Thomas and Porter as the LB's.....sick

why sign him when we just let go of 3 older DL in wilkinson, zgnoninas, carter... time to let the youths play some ball.

NNNNNOOOOOOO

We don't need to spend more money on D-Line. Especially an aging one.

Our D-Line this year will be a 3 man between the following:
Holliday, Traylor, Roth, Evans, Wright, Wright

I am ok with that!!!

I don't see Wistrom as an upgrade over Roth. He's about the same size, only had 4 sacks each of the last 2 seasons (Roth had 3.5 last year in limited action), and Roth's motor has a lot less wear & tear.

?????????Why would we have 3 DE on a 3-4?
Roth Traylor and Holliday.

Oh and by the way Winstrom was released for a reason. Hes on a very steep downward slope.

A). We're still a hybrid a D that needs four DE.

B). Roth is the only closed end on the roster.

C). Holliday plays DT, even though he is a great DE as well.

Grant Wistrom is a straight up pass rusher in a 4-3. If we were to sign him, he'd only be useful as an OLB. And he cant play OLB. The DE position in the 3-4 is not about getting sacks. The DE in a 3-4 is pretty much a a glorifed DT.

Holliday plays beside JT on the 3-4 Traylor is the DT and Roth off to his side. Our OLB in that situation is JT and Porter. With Evans, and others as depth. Would you like to spend all that money on Winstrom for a back up or situational role? I wouldnt. Like I said, he was cut for a reason.

If he's going to be playing for back up money, than why not?

Winstrom is a very good DE but there is no need for another 30 year old on the defense. Plus we don't have the money. No chanche
