The Patriots made short work of Dan Campbell’s Coach of the Year campaign on Thursday night, handing Miami’s interim coach his first defeat with a 36-7 rout in Foxborough. There’s no shame in losing to the undefeated Patriots, of course, and Dolphins fans have to be encouraged with how their team has responded under Campbell after getting off to a sleepy 1-3 start under deposed former coach Joe Philbin. There’s still plenty of time to observe Campbell and figure out whether he’s the right man for the job, but he’s certainly shown enough promise early as an interim coach to engender thoughts about giving him the permanent gig at the end of the season. Is that a good idea?

Dunno yet. Cant base it on 3 games. But it will be telling how the team responds to this loss and the loss of Wake.

Bills game should tell us a lot. MUST win if he wants to stay in the covo of candidates.

Ultimately, I believe the fallout of last night's game isn't huge and may benefit this team in the long term. The thinking of this team went from, "If this guy wins he is FOR SURE the answer" and transitioned to, "Okay, we lost that difficult game we were expected to lose...let's see how Campbell does with a full season under his belt." It's a more wise, patient approach that will behoove everyone by using logic and a large sample size to shape the next several years of this organization.

I'm rooting like hell for Campbell though. The guy just GETS what is right and what is wrong with this team. He also is inheriting players and system that he only has so much power to change. If he can't change the fortunes of this team, I seriously question the player personnel and will start to wonder how much we can revamp the roster this upcoming offseason.

We definitely need a better sample size, and a short week against the best team in football is not the best way to judge him. It is an important data point, but it is the remaining 9 games that matter. I will say that the offensive game plan made poor use of the offensive talent, and the offensive staff was completely incapable of realizing that Fox needed help. They stubbornly refused to alter their plan.

LONG....., but it must be said.

You guys need to knock it off with this "he" business. Your killing yourselves with it.

This is NOT dan campbells team. It is joe philbins. Dan replaced ONE player and got rid of a coach that was a week from being gone anyways..

Dan didnt draft or sign ANY of these players.

Dan didnt hire ANY of these coaches. ANARUBA included.

Dan should be given a three year h/c contract NOW. We didnt lose BECAUSE of Dan Campbell. We lost because (like 6 other teams) we played the far and away best team in football thats angry, talented and on a mission. And the BIG, BIG REASON? The icing on the cake, the nail in the coffin? Here it is........., its coming, your not gonna like it, your going to have to accept this FACT........... .

WE WERE NEVER A PLAYOFF TEAM!!!

We were not before camp started, before the season started and NOT NOW!!!

YOU drank the kool aid that was force fed to football blind Ross. And thats the worst part, this "we now have the players to compete" line philbin and tannencrap filled ross with. This is going to cost us the BEST COACH we have had since Don Shula. We started the season with ONE Cb, ONE SAFETY, ONE lb, and a rb who has to have huge holes to make plays, a banged up, forever switching o-line, 3 dl-men iffy on the run game, and a qb who is NO WHERE NEAR worth the salary MILK SHAKE MIKE TANNENBUTT sold Ross on!!

NONE OF THIS is DAN CAMPBELL. NO COACH, NOT EVEN BILLICHEK could win with this team!! All this "lets see how HE does the rest of the way is bunk. Its as bunk as all the short sighted, playoff dilusioned that still refuse to see what the problem is........, that we were NEVER a playoff team!!

Philbin and T-Bum sold YOU and Ross a bad bill of goods. We dont have the talent not only to compete with the good teams, but also players who fit Campbells team vision. Suh, Grimes, Jones and Jenkins are an Awsome start for a big time defense. Jay Ajayi is the rb thats missing. Tanny has GREAT wrs and pro bowl te but he is LACKING in big games. Yes, he is a big part of the losses. Any REAL PRESSURE, WHEN IN THE CLUTCH, he folds. HIS POCKET AWARENESS is not elite, 100mill worthy. Its not DAN CAMPBELLS FAULT our 2 prized rookies were injured. Not campbells fault or decision to put our big bruising rb piece on injured reserve for half a year over a 3 week injury.

Dan Campbell didnt hire a failed, wanna be gm who spent (and he's hit the ground running on that) and blundered his way out of new york. Tailored sports shakes do not make a football man.

So in ending this education, the front office, whoever thats going to be, better forget the salary and find tanny REAL competition for his job next year. You all need to forget this PLAYOFF nonsense that was NEVER there. You need to forget all this "HE" nonsense concerning Dan Campbell is concerned, HE is the only hope for our future, HE shouldnt second guessed by Ross over what the players already know and start next season with a possitive note and hire dan campbell , not leaving the players hanging and hoping the mike-ross circus act wont replace dan with some outsider yes man.

Your all making yourselves miserable and becoming more short sighted with every PLAYOFF thought and you keep feeding on. Dont give the gruesome twosome of ross and milk shake mike any more ammo to COMPLETELY ruin our future by kicking us in the jimmy with eric mansweeni or some other jet castoff to be milk shakes lacky.

Because thats where YOU are steering us everytime you mention playoff berths and dan campbell guessing. NOTE: Before the "over reacting after a loss" comments and that played out chicken little picture appears, i said ALL these things, pre campbell, BEFORE the season started. I know HOOPS had his doubts also.

Just ride this misguided season out for what it is. The rebuilding of our team and the lucky find of the coach this team has needed for years.

**** Grantland. And **** EVERY WEEK becoming a referendum on Campbell, good or bad. He'll be judged on his body of work at season's end. Period, end of story. That's the way it's gonna be.

And while we're at it, the weekly pendulum on Tannehill is a ****ing embarrassment to us as fans; here we have a guy who had an 83% completion rate going into that buzzsaw last night, and every week he's either garbage or he's a demigod.

Stupid.

Completion percentage is a worthless stat in and of itself. Is DeAndre Jordan a good shooter? He was a the top of the NBA last year in FG%. Same thing essentially. Also I don't think that many people change their opinion of RT week to week, its just some become more vocal when they think they are being proven right.

The guy has lost 1 game. Just like he shouldn't have been judged by the first 2, he shouldn't be judged by yesterday's alone. Still way too small of a sample size. Even Shula's teams got beat like we did yesterday, once in a while (albeit not often).

Just when you thought this season couldn't get any worse.
